Marriages for the royal family are an important matter. The women Queen Elizabeth II’s grandsons choose as their wives could end up being the mothers to the future kings and queens of the United Kingdom.

In 2018, when Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex before they renounced their royal titles and stepped back from their official royal duties, they joined the Queen at Buckingham Palace for the Queen's Young Leaders Awards Ceremony.
According to the official website, the Queen’s Young Leaders Program was open to young people aged 18–29 from selected Commonwealth Nations to recognize exceptional people or organizations who are making a difference in improving other citizen's lives. The program ended in 2019, but from this photo from 2018 we can see it was a really enjoyable experience as Megan Markle, Prince Harry, and the Queen are all smiles on the front row.

Buckingham Palace is renowned for its summer openings. People from all walks of life try to get tickets from July to October each year to see the exhibitions that have been curated for that specific year. In 2011, the star of the show was the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding gown which was designed by Sarah Burton for British designer Alexander McQueen.
Kate Middleton and the Queen viewed the exhibitions together in advance of the opening, just a few months after her wedding. The Royal Collection Trust reports that Kate Middleton selected the brand Alexander McQueen for her dress due to the “beauty of its craftsmanship and its respect for traditional workmanship.”

Christmas is always an important time for the royal family. It is time when they come together as a big family, with no duties, and get to spend quality uninterrupted time together. Traditionally the royal family would spend Christmas at Windsor, but since a refurbishment in 1988, Christmas was moved to Sandringham—until this year, as the Queen will be spending a quiet Christmas with her husband Prince Philip at Windsor, reports The Sun.

The Queen has loved horses and horse racing throughout her life. It is a tradition for the royal family to attend Royal Ascot in what is seen as the most prestigious racing event in the UK. The Queen has attended every year throughout her reign.

As part of their many duties, the Queen and the Duchess of Cambridge embarked on a tour of Leicester in 2012 to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. This photo captures one part of the tour where they got to watch the student fashion show at De Montfort University in Leicester. The Queen and the Duchess of Cambridge can be seen sharing a moment together, it looks like they’ve spotted something amusing! The pair later visited Leicester Cathedral together, so they had quite a diverse mix of events.
2018
With Meghan Markle being one of the newest members of the royal family, in 2018 she had her very first solo engagement with the Queen. This took place in Cheshire and involved a special ceremony to open the new Mersey Gateway Bridge in Runcorn. They look like they’re enjoying their time together as they exchange bright smiles. According to the Liverpool Echo, after the engagement, they were guests of honor at a lunch hosted by Chester City Council.
2012
2012 seemed to be a year of joy for the Queen and Kate Middleton. The duo looked very happy as they attended an event in Nottingham, which was also part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee tour. They were together to watch a sporting event for children in Vernon Park. According to ITV, an incredible 20,000 well-wishers turned up to catch a glimpse of the Duchess, her Majesty, and Prince William.
ITV reports that Vernon Park was granted "Queen Elizabeth II Fields In Trust status" making it a protected recreational space.
