The relationship between King Charles III and Queen Camilla has definitely raised eyebrows over the years. The couple had an affair while King Charles III was still married to Princess Diana, and during the last few years of her life, it was reported that the alleged affair tormented the late princess. There was even an interview from 1995 where she referenced the affair to a young Prince William.

Then tragedy struck when Princess Diana passed away due to a car accident in 1997. Following this, Charles and Camilla began officially seeing each other two years after Princess Diana's death. Because of Diana's untimely passing, Charles did not want to overwhelm his family with the sudden inclusion of a new spouse. Harry and William were still minors when their mother passed, and Charles decided that it would be best to wait until they were adults to get married to Camilla.

Camilla has been a loyal partner to Charles and has taken on her royal duties with grace and enthusiasm. Now, it is certain that Camilla is a beloved part of the royal family.

Despite the controversy surrounding Camilla and Charles's marriage, both of them have shown that they have nothing to offer but love. Over the years, people have speculated about the couple's relationship with the rest of the royal family members, but especially their relationship with Prince William and Prince Harry. In an excerpt from "Catherine, The Princess of Wales: The Biography," author Robert Jobson claims that Camilla has a special trick that she does to subdue William and Kate when she feels like they are disrespecting Charles.

Harry and William lost their mother in a very tragic manner and had to mourn while the glare of the public eye watching them. Moreover, both boys were in their formative years when it happened, which means losing their mother has affected them on a very deep level.

Despite all the tragedy and controversy, William and Harry have had only positive things to say about their stepmother over the years.

It is easy to point the finger at Camilla for Charles and the late Princess Diana's marriage falling apart; however, as Harry reasoned in the book "Harry: The Biography of a Prince," written by Angela Levin:

"To be honest, she's always been very close to me and William. She's not a wicked stepmother. Look at the position she's coming into." He also added: "Don't feel sorry for me and William, feel sorry for her."

It is likely that Harry was referring to the negative press Camilla continues to receive to this day about her role in the disintegration of Charles and Diana's marriage. TV shows like "The Crown" have renewed interest in the royals and have attempted to tell the story of Diana, Charles and Camilla in another light.

Harry also added: "She's a wonderful woman and she's made our father very, very happy which is the most important thing. William and I love her to bits."

It has been reported that despite their love for their stepmother, Harry and William didn't want her to have the title of "queen" when King Charles III took the throne, despite Queen Elizabeth showing her support for Camilla to take the title.

Camilla has been considered an integral part of the current British royal family. In "Catherine, The Princess of Wales: The Biography," Jobson revealed that there was once a moment when Camilla had stepped up to her duties as a disciplined partner to Charles, stepmother to William and stepmother-in-law to Kate

Jobson said that before Camilla became queen, she "cleverly" reminded the couple that Charles was the "royal patriarch whenever she felt he did not show his father enough respect."

"On one occasion when they were leaving Windsor Castle after a joint event, the Duke of Cambridge learned that his father had police outriders from the Special Escort Group for a journey as his royal status warranted. He asked his father if he and Catherine could tag along behind in convoy, making it easier to get through the traffic, and Charles agreed," a senior source told Jobson.

The source also added that when Charles was kept waiting for "several minutes" for William and Kate, Camilla insisted that they leave without them — a stern reminder that they had to respect the king's time.

Despite the previous encounter, many experts pointed out that Camilla and Kate's combined grace and commitment to their roles are of the utmost importance to the royal family. Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK! Magazine that there was "some charming interaction between" Camilla and Kate at the Cenotaph.

"I'm sure Kate must have been watching Camilla's metamorphosis from commoner to Queen with particular interest and I think it must be reassuring for them both," Bond pointed out. "What a unique relationship it must be there is literally no-one else for Catherine to turn who has direct experience of the role that will one day be hers. And very few people that Camilla would feel able to confide in about the reality of it all."
