Feb 10, 2021 by apost team
Congratulations are in order for this royal couple! Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank welcomed their first child, a baby boy, on Tuesday, Feb. 9. He is Queen Elizabeth's ninth great-grandchild and the first grandchild of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. The baby boy is currently 11th in line to the throne, though he may not yet have a royal title. A name has not yet been announced.
Princess Eugenie, 30, welcomed the baby boy with her husband, Brooksbank, 34, by her side at 8:55 a.m. on Feb. 9, as per reports by BBC. The couple announced the arrival with an Instagram post of a black-and-white family photo and a simple caption of three blue hearts. Buckingham Palace issued a statement after the birth, writing:
"Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie was safely delivered of a son today, 9th February 2021, at 8: 55 a.m. at The Portland Hospital. The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Duke of York, Sarah, Duchess of York, and Mr. and Mrs. George Brooksbank have been informed and are delighted with the news. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."
This is exciting news indeed! Along with the congratulations from her grandmother, James Middleton, Kate Middleton's brother also sent in a congratulatory message to the happy parents as a comment on Princess Eugenie's Instagram post, saying "Congratulations such wonderful news ❤️." We are sure that more royal family members and dear friends will be sending in their wishes to the couple today.

Even though the baby boy is the 11th in line to the throne, he is unlikely to receive a royal title, as Princess Eugenie is not a senior working royal. Moreover, as she is a female descendant of the royal family, she holds a different status than the male members. It was also Princess Eugenie and her husband's decision to raise their child without any official royal titles. An insider told Vanity Fair that, "Eugenie knows that a title can be a curse as well as a blessing and she and Jack want their child to live an ordinary life and eventually work to earn a living."
However, BBC reports that it will be up to Queen Elizabeth if she wants to bestow a title on her great-grandson. Interestingly, the baby boy takes the place of his uncle, Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, in the succession line.
Princess Eugenie, along with her sister Princess Beatrice, live relatively normal lives, hold full-time jobs and do not carry out royal duties on behalf of the Queen, reports Woman and Home. They also do not receive any checks from the Sovereign Grant, the government-supported fund that finances Queen Elizabeth II's official duties. While Princess Eugenie works as a director at the London art gallery Hauser & Wirth, People reports that Brooksbank works with tequila business Casamigos which was founded by George Clooney.

I think she will be more of a bohemian parent, a bit like her mom, while Jack will be calm and chilled." The couple announced that they were expecting a child in September 2020 with an adorable photo of baby slippers and with the caption "Jack and I are so excited for early 2021…"
The couple celebrated their second anniversary in October 2020, during which time the princess shared previously unseen photos with her husband. They had been together for almost a decade before they wed. Town and Country reported that Princess Eugenie met Brooksbank while skiing in Verbier, Switzerland, in 2010, and he proposed to her in 2018 in Nicaragua.
"The lake was so beautiful. The light was just a special light I had never seen," she said of the surprise proposal. "I actually said this is an incredible moment, and then he popped the question, which was really surprising even though we have been together seven years. I was over the moon."

She loaned the incredible Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara from her grandmother and paired it with matching emerald earrings, which were a gift from the groom, reports People. She chose not to wear a traditional veil and specifically chose a dress with a low back to proudly display the scar from a previous scoliosis surgery on her back.
People Magazine reported that the couple moved into Frogmore Cottage in November 2020, which was the previous home of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The home is reportedly close to Princess Eugenie's parents' home, the Royal Lodge at Windsor Great Park, as well as being nearby to Windsor Castle, where the Queen and her husband live. While the residence is still officially the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's residence, this move shed light on the closeness between Princess Eugenie and Prince Harry.
"Out of all the Queen's grandchildren, Harry and Eugenie have one of the most natural connections. Like Harry, Eugenie is loyal, honest, and great fun," write authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand in their book "Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family."
Princess Beatrice, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi (2020), (Handout/getty images)Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie's sister, married in a small and intimate ceremony to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in July 2020. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, a lavish wedding was not possible, but Princess Beatrice did end up having a picturesque and unique wedding in the summer, reports Harper's Bazaar.
Princess Eugenie's mother, Sarah "Fergie" Ferguson, spoke to the BBC Program The One Show about how she felt about becoming a grandparent in 2018, saying, "Excellent! They are thrilled because I write children's books and I'm a child, I haven't grown up." We are sure that the new grandparents are completely delighted by their new grandson! This year has begun on a beautiful note for the royal family, and we continue to wish them the very best.
