The Princess of Wales hosted her fourth “Royal Carols: Together at Christmas” carol service in December 2024 with the support of The Royal Foundation. The tradition has become one of the most treasured during the festive season, with many gathering to celebrate love, empathy and the spirit of Christmas at Westminster Abbey. The event also brought together members of the royal family, friends, and guests to celebrate. “Together at Christmas” is also broadcast on ITV.

The Prince and Princess of Wales were joined by their children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9 and Prince Louis, 6. The royal carols celebrate heroes in the community and those who strive to make a difference in their local areas by offering their time and service through volunteering. During the service, the three young children also left notes on a “kindness tree” in honor of those  "who have shown love, kindness and empathy to others in their communities"

The young royals also had tags, with Prince Louis’ tag reading, "Thank you to granny and grandpa because they have played games with me." The message was presumably intended for his maternal grandparents, Carole and Michael Middleton, known to be doting grandparents.

Despite having a challenging year amidst the Princess of Wales’ health struggles and subsequent media frenzy, the family seemed to be in good spirits. Princess Catherine also cemented her return to the public eye and her royal duties after completing chemotherapy in mid-2024.

One of the most touching moments during the carols was between Princess Catherine and her youngest son, Prince Louis, who gave us an endearing mother-son moment that warmed hearts across the globe. There was a gap between Prince Louis and his siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, who stood close to their father, Prince William, and the youngest royal chose to stick with his mother instead.

The young royal stayed glued to his mother, sidling up against her and sharing a tender interaction that showcased their close bond and added an extra touch of warmth to the festive occasion. At such a young age, Prince Louis has already become a beloved figure among royal watchers for his cheeky antics and very playful personality. However, at this year's carol service, the Prince and Princess of Wales's youngest son showed a more calm and thoughtful side to his character, sticking close to his mother throughout the evening. In a way, he behaved like a regular child his age, which is always great.

The event was filled with singing Christmas carols, readings from classic English books like “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens and a moving letter read by the Princess of Wales, which was included in the order of service. In the letter, Princes Catherine wrote that the Christmas story:

“...encourages us to turn to love, not fear… love is the light that can shine bright, even in our darkest times.”

With everything she has been through in 2024, we wish Princess Catherine all the best for the coming year.
