Prince William Tells Female Admirer, 96, ‘You'll Make Me Blush’ As He Jokes On Care Home Visit After Bashir Situation

Following the death of Prince Philip in April and the official period of mourning for the royal family, Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge are now back to work as they embark on a tour of Scotland. Prince William began the tour last Friday, while Kate Middleton joined him on Monday.

While he was there solo, William made a visit to Queen's Bay Lodge, a care home in Edinburgh. As he got to talking to the residents, one 96-year-old woman by the name of Betty Magee made quite the impression on him. After telling the prince that it was customary to receive a kiss on the cheek, a bashful William had to politely decline due to the Covid restrictions.

But that didn't stop Magee from flirting some more with the future king. William even returned to Magee after speaking with other residents and jokingly admitted to flirting back with her. He also told Magee that once the restrictions loosened he would return to give her that kiss. What a true gentleman!

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's royal tour of Scotland has already seen them visit a host of locations including the Scottish Violence Reduction Centre, where Middleton tried her hand at DJing at Heavy Sound, a recreation venue working with the SVRC. Later in their tour, the duke and duchess will host a special drive-in screening for NHS staff of Disney's new film "Cruella," as well as a beachside session of land yachting. The tour will also mark their first official visit to the archipelago of Orkney.

Following the Martin Bashir scandal revolving around his late mother Diana, Prince William showed no signs of stress as he visited Queen's Bay Lodge in Edinburgh. While at the care home, William socialized with the residents and their families in a casual setting, as everyone snacked on ice cream and drank tea.

While chatting with Betty Magee, a 96-year-old great-grandmother and former servicewoman, William found himself on the receiving end of some well-intentioned flirting. After taking a seat at Magee's table, she told the prince, as reported by The Sun:

"It's customary in these parts to give a lady a kiss on the cheek."

Instantly bashful, William replied: "Oh you are sweet. You'll make me blush." But Magee wouldn't be brushed off so easily. After persisting for that kiss from a prince, William laughed and covered his face in embarrassment. Her persuasion was strong, leading William to tell her:

"When the rules relax more I will come back and give you a kiss on the cheek Betty."

But that wasn't the end of their flirtation. After speaking with other residents and their families, William returned to Magee's table, where, after more flirtation, he told her:

"Betty, I don't know who is flirting more, me or you ... Talking to you makes me blush. Is there whisky in your tea Betty?"

Magee, who served in the Royal Air Force during World War II, has three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In fact, she's just one year older than Prince William's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. Imagine having one of your grandmother's friends flirt with you — we can understand why William was bashful!

Later on, Magee explained her motivations:

"I wanted a kiss from a prince. He asked how old I was and I told him I had just had my 96th birthday and I just asked him for a kiss.

"He said he couldn't and then I reached out and stroked his cheek. I could go for him in a good way. He is a bit of all right. He said he couldn't give me a peck on the cheek because of Covid which was a shame."

While chatting with other residents, William mentioned his wife's impending arrival in Scotland as they embarked on the rest of their Scottish royal tour:

"Catherine is coming up and I'm very much looking forward to it."

When asked how the Cambridges had fared during the lockdown, William explained that "at the beginning it was quite tiring" as the kids needed "a lot of running around." While chatting at another table, William spoke of his son Prince George, after a resident had mentioned seeing him in long trousers. William said:

"George is at school now. He likes his shorts. He likes always to wear shorts and t-shirts and football shirts."

He also spoke positively about the restrictions loosening and the world slowly opening up, telling the Queen's Bay Lodge residents:

"It's nice to feel the world is opening up again now the restrictions are slowly lifting. It feels like it is coming back to normal."

The visit was clearly a fun one, not just for the residents but for Prince William too, as he smiled and exchanged laughs with the elderly residents of Queen's Bay Lodge.
