Prince William and Kate Middleton have three children in total, including 5-year-old Louis, 8-year-old Charlotte and 10-year-old George. Whenever one of their birthdays comes around, Middleton makes sure to take out her camera for the annual snapshot that followers of the royal family around the world seem to cherish. In the coming weeks, we can expect another Kate Middleton photo, as Charlotte will turned 8 on Monday, May 2. And at the end of July, George will turn 8. In April 2021, little Louis marked two important events in his life.

The Cambridge family's youngest child, Prince Louis, turned 3 years old on Friday, April 23. The royal couple followed tradition, commemorating their son’s birthday by uploading a snapshot of the birthday boy to social media. And, as is typical for these birthday photos, Middleton took the adorable picture, which features a beaming Louis as he sits on a red bike and wears his backpack for school.

The photo doesn’t just mark Louis’ birthday — it also marks the 3-year-old’s first day of nursery school, a significant milestone for the youngest of the Cambridge bunch.

Previously, Kate has also shared photos of all of her children's first day of nursery school. As Louis is the last of the kids to go to nursery school, we are looking back on the first preschool days for all of the Cambridge children. Children grow up quickly, but photographs allow everyone to relive moments bygone. Louis's siblings are all grown up and attending primary school now, and soon enough, George will begin his time secondary school.

William and Kate marked Louis's first day of nursery school on social media. “Three tomorrow! 🚲,” the Kensington Royal Instagram account wrote alongside the birthday photo. “Taken earlier this week by The Duchess before he left for his first day of nursery, The Duke and Duchess are pleased to share a new image of Prince Louis. 🎈”

Louis started his first day at preschool at London's Willcocks Nursery School, which is just over a 10-minute walk from Kensington Palace, where the duke and duchess live. The preschool also has a well-earned reputation.

Meanwhile, George and Charlotte currently attend Thomas Battersea, located in south London. However, the private school only educates children up until the age of 13, and so George is nearing the age when he will have to find a different school. According to the Evening Standard, George is likely to attend Eton College in Windsor, England. The boarding school for boys is known for educating the elite, with alumni such as William, Prince Harry and Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester.

In the past, Charlotte also attended Willcocks Nursery School like her brother. She began nursery school in 2018, and her photograph was all kinds of adorable. Taken by Kate, sweet two-year-old Charlotte wore a little red coat and a pink scarf for her first day as she beamed into the camera while sitting on some steps.

The caption read, "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share two photographs of Princess Charlotte at Kensington Palace this morning. The images were taken by The Duchess shortly before Princess Charlotte left for her first day of nursery at the Willcocks Nursery School."

Royal fans were taken by Charlotte's sweet smile, and many also pointed out that Charlotte had a stark resemblance to her late grandmother, Princess Diana

George attended a different nursery to his siblings as William had been working with East Anglian Air Ambulance and the family lived permanently at Anmer Hall on the Sandringham Estate at the time according to Cosmopolitan. Two-and-a-half-year-old George attended the Westacre Montessori in 2016 and continued there for a year and a half before the Cambridges moved to London, after which he attended Thomas Battersea, where he is enrolled currently as well.

For his first day of nursery school, George wore a navy quilted coat and had a backpack that was adorably a little big for him. The caption for his photo read, "Prince George arrives for his first day at Westacre Montessori School nursery in Norfolk today. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released two photographs to mark the occasion. They show Prince George standing in front of the mural on the outside of the nursery building."

Royal fans can look forward to beautiful photographs of the Cambridge children in the future thanks to Kate's fantastic photography skills. Vogue reported that Kate has even been called the royal family's "unofficial photographer" thanks to the gorgeous snaps she takes of her family that intermittently grace the royal family's social media accounts.

About photographing her kids, Kate said in 2016, "From taking photographs of George and Charlotte, I have been struck by the wonderful lack of self-consciousness that you see in photographs of children, without the self-awareness that adults generally feel."
