We all inherit habits from our parents, and the royals are no exception.
In a BBC One documentary, Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70, that aired back in 2018, it was revealed that Prince Harry had picked up one particular habit from his father, Prince Charles. However, the habit caused Prince Harry to be mocked at school, as he would pick up litter whenever he was out and about.
Although the relationship between Prince Charles and Princess Diana initially appeared to be a fairy tale, it turned out that the union was not quite as idyllic as it seemed. Nevertheless, the royal couple bore two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, who at the time became second and third in line to the British throne. Princess Diana's death in Paris in 1997 shook the entire royal family and the rest of the world. On July 1, 2021, Prince Harry and William erected a statue in their mother's honor without Prince Charles. After the death of his mother, the People's Princess, Diana of Wales, Prince Harry and his brother William only had their father, Prince Charles as a parent.
Although they developed a close relationship with their grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, it's no surprise that Prince Harry inherited such a habit from his father. In fact, it's not the only one that he picked up. The documentary revealed other royal habits that Harry's wife, Meghan Markle, even found out of the ordinary.

Prince Charles was born on Nov. 14, 1948, and he married Princess Diana in 1981. Before their divorce in 1996, the two had Prince William and Prince Harry and became one of the most beloved families in Britain. However, due to Diana's passing, the boys had no mother growing up, and instead, just their father, Prince Charles. According to Express, BBC One documentary, Prince, Son, and Heir: Charles at 70, revealed that Prince Charles was quite conscious of plastic pollution back in the 1970s. Looking back at a clip of his father talking about the cause, Prince Harry spoke in the documentary about how he was mocked in school for the habit he picked up from his father:
"I used to get taken the mickey out of at school for just picking up rubbish. When you go for walks anywhere, if you see something, it stands out, you pick it up."
The Duke of Sussex talked about how he was mocked for his environmentally-minded habit, as he said:
"Before you know it, somebody [says], 'What are you doing?' I've literally done this because I am programmed to do it because my father did it. And actually, we should all be doing it."
In the same documentary, Prince William commented on how their father would even have them cleaning up litter during the holidays. He said:
He took us litter picking when we were younger. On holiday! We were in Norfolk... And again, both of us thought this is perfectly normal; everyone must do it. We were there with our spikes stabbing the rubbish into black plastic bags."

Prince Charles made many speeches warning about environmental damage. In a 1970 film, he said:
"Waste is yet another problem. There are 55 million of us on this island using nonreturnable bottles and indestructible plastic containers. It is not difficult to imagine the mountain of refuse that we shall have to deal with somehow."
Prince Harry had nothing but praise for his father, despite the fact that Prince Charles had to raise the boys without a mother after Princess Diana's death. Harry said:
"He's done an amazing job, without telling us what we should be doing or the direction that we should go in. He's just let us learn from the nature of the job. Learning from him. Learning from mummy."
Prince William and Harry both agreed that their father was ahead of his time when it came to the environmental hazards of the growing 'disposables' culture. William said:
"The plastics… that comes out doesn't it. Now it's a huge topic and he was saying that back in 1970, about our throwaway culture."
However, this isn't the only habit Harry inherited from Charles. In the same documentary, Harry said his father is "a stickler for turning lights off." Harry also admitted that his wife Meghan Markle didn't quite understand his strange habit:

You know it's dark.' I go: 'We only need one light, we don't need like six,' and all of a sudden, it becomes a habit and those small habit changes he's making, every single person can do. And I think that's one of the key lessons certainly that I felt that he taught us."
