Prince Harry Left Meghan Waiting After Skipping First Planned Flight Back In Order To See Charles

Prince Harry had left his wife Meghan Markle waiting for his return home after he decided to skip his first scheduled flight. The Daily Mail reported that Harry is understood to have flown into Los Angeles on an American Airlines flight from London Heathrow, and arrived in California on Tuesday, April 20, just one day before Elizabeth's birthday, but later than when Meghan expected him.

Meghan is currently at her and her husband’s home in Montecito, California with their son Archie.

According to Insider, Meghan did not receive medical clearance to fly because she is heavily pregnant and expecting her and Harry's second child, a girl. Doctors had advised her to not fly to the UK, as this type of travel during the pandemic would be risky for her and her unborn child.

Meghan is expected to deliver her second child sometime this summer, but the exact due date is still unknown. However, Meghan wished of course that she could have attended Prince Philip’s funeral in order to support her beloved husband Harry.

According to Evening Standard, Harry flew into Heathrow airport using an “open ended ticket” on April 11. He isolated himself at Frogmore Cottage before attending his grandfather’s funeral on Saturday. According to the Daily Mail, people visiting England after traveling from the United States are required to self-isolate for ten days but are allowed to not meet the full requirement if they are attending a funeral, so long as a COVID-19 test is administered and the results are negative.

Harry did not stay longer in the UK to celebrate the queen's birthday. 

Harry has been reported to have landed in LA yesterday, later than he had initially intended. Harry and Meghan currently have a 23-month-old child together, and his wife is set to have their second child sometime in the next few months. One reason why Harry seemed to have considered staying in Britain is because this will be his grandmother’s first birthday without her late husband. The Queen has been surrounded by friends and family since news broke about Philip’s passing but has yet to have a milestone event like her upcoming birthday to celebrate without him by her side.

Since she could not be at the funeral and it is not clear if or when she will travel to the UK, Meghan found a way to honor the late Philip in her own way. Even though she could not be there in person, a spokesperson for the duchess confirmed to HuffPost that she did watch the live airing of the funeral from her home. 

According to Insider, Meghan and Harry commissioned a wreath that was specially designed to include significant virtues, moments and times that were most important for Philip. Meghan also added a handwritten note to the wreath, which was pictured in St. George’s Chapel during the funeral service. 

Insider also reported that the wreath also featured campanula to show gratitude and everlasting love, rosemary to signify remembrance and lavender for devotion, all of which are a beautiful way to remember the late Duke of Edinburgh. Lastly, roses were chosen in honor of June, which is Philip’s birth month.

According to the Daily Mail, the Duke of Sussex has been having long talks with his brother Prince William, which could be a reason why he had been contemplating staying in Britain. The siblings were said to have met with their father Prince Charles following their grandfather’s funeral. The family spent some time catching up, as Harry no longer lives in his home country. This is also the first time they have been seen talking in public since the shocking Oprah Winfrey interview with Harry and Meghan, where the couple talked about issues within the Royal Family.

The royal family is sure to be reunited once more in July when a statue commemorating Princess Diana at Kensington Palace is set to be unveiled. The event is being held July 1, the day that would have been her 60th birthday.

The Duke of Sussex was also seen speaking with William’s wife Kate Middleton. His sister-in-law stepped aside to allow the brothers to speak more privately and personably if need be. Harry was surrounded by a lot of his family members, although it is unclear who he spoke with, or if he even spoke with anyone else.

While Harry himself seems to be unsure about what the future holds for him regarding his family situation, it seems as though he was focused on spending time with them while he was in England. Harry flew back to LA yesterday, but it was still not the flight that he had originally scheduled to come back.
