Following Prince Philip's funeral on Saturday, April 17, it is believed that Prince Harry, who flew in from his home in California to attend, might delay his return to the United States in order to stay for the Queen's birthday on Wednesday, April 21. This comes after news that Harry engaged in two hours of "peace talks" with his brother Prince William, the Daily Mail reports. They also reported that the two brothers' peace talks included their father Prince Charles and took place after Prince Philip's funeral on Saturday. Harry and William's conversation after the funeral was widely reported and pointed to a thawing in their currently cold relationship.
It's believed that Harry has an open flight back to the States, which means he is free to leave the United Kingdom whenever he chooses. As it's his grandmother's 95th birthday — and her first one without her husband Prince Philip in over seven decades — it would make sense that Harry stays a few days longer in order to be with her. However, this would mean delaying his return home to be with his pregnant wife Meghan Markle, and their 23-month-old son Archie.
Upon arriving in the U.K. over one week ago, Harry quarantined at his former home, Frogmore Cottage, in Windsor for five days. The current rules stipulate that travelers arriving from America must self-isolate for 10 days, however, they are allowed to attend funerals on the grounds of compassion. Reports say that Harry was able to leave isolation after only five days by utilizing the U.K. government's test-and-release scheme, which allowed him to leave following a negative Covid test.
Since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's abrupt departure as senior working members of the Royal Family in March 2020, this is the first time that Harry and his family reunited. The already tense relationship between Harry and the family ignited further after Harry and Markle sat down with Oprah Winfrey for a controversial interview in March 2021. During the television special, the couple openly criticized the royal family and its culture.
During the funeral cortege, Prince Harry and Prince William were separated by their cousin and Prince Philip's eldest grandson, Peter Phillips. One report suggests that Prince William had requested it, while a friend of Harry's told the Daily Mail, "He's just doing what he's told and getting on with it."
However, later Harry was seen talking with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge after the ceremony had ended, which has raised hopes that the siblings could make up following Harry and Meghan Markle's controversial tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey. The moment is believed to be the first time the brothers have spoken in person since the bombshell interview was released. Following this brief conversation, the brothers met for "peace talks," as reported by the Daily Mail, away from the cameras in Windsor Castle and with the inclusion of their father Prince Charles.
The royal brothers are expected to reunite once again in the summer when they will unveil a statue in honor of their mother Princess Diana at Kensington Palace. Set to take place on July 1 — to commemorate what would have been Princess Diana's 60th birthday — royal insiders are hopeful that the event will heal their relationship, with a source telling the Daily Mail:
"It's early days but you'd hope this is exactly the first step Philip would have wished for.'"

The Queen's farewell to her husband was deeply emotional. Images from inside the funeral, where only a select group of 30 people could attend due to coronavirus restrictions, show Elizabeth sitting alone in the chapel due to strict social distancing measures.
“She is saying farewell to someone to whom she was married for 73 years. I think that must be a very, very profound thing in anybody’s life,” Archbishop Justin Welby said in a Friday interview with the BBC.
Now, mere days after farewelling her husband of 73 years, she is celebrating her 95th birthday without him for the first time in over seven decades. As Harry is already in the U.K. and has an open flight to return home, it's believed he might stay until his grandmother's birthday on Wednesday, despite being anxious to return to his pregnant wife and young son. A source told The Sun, "If all goes well, he could stay for the Queen's birthday."
It's understandable why Harry would want to get back to Markle as soon as possible as she's believed to be seven months pregnant. She was unable to join him in returning to the U.K. for Prince Philip's funeral as she was advised by doctors not to fly during this time. It is understood, however, that she had made every effort to join her husband until her doctors did not give her clearance, as per the news outlet. It is also reported that Markle sent a handwritten note to be left with a wreath at the ceremony, which she's believed to have watched on TV.
