The controversial decision that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took to step back from their roles as senior working members of the royal family caused quite a stir when it was first announced in March 2020. Dubbed Megxit, the decision took the general public as well as the royal family by surprise and has since continued to divide the public. Some people believe that their decision was not right, while others wholeheartedly continue to support the couple in their endeavors today. No matter what side of the argument a person might be on, there are certainly a lot of questions about what exactly happened behind closed doors to lead to this decision.

Both Harry and Meghan opened up about the circumstances that led to their decision in a controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021. However, their frank discussion of the difficulties and challenges they faced have been met with criticism and anger by a large number of people, especially after the death of Prince Philip shortly after the interview aired.

However, that has not stopped Harry and Meghan from continuing to share their experiences and they have been outspoken about their determination to challenge the status quo. Now, Lifetime has released the trailer for a movie on Wednesday 23 June 2021 that explores the life that Harry and Meghan lived in the UK and the tumultuous years that caused them to leave. Starring Jordan Dean as Harry and Sydney Morton and Meghan, the movie is titled "Harry And Meghan: Escaping The Castle," and the initial trailer has royal fans excited for what is to come.

PEOPLE reported that there is no date yet as to when the movie will release, but Lifetime had previously set the release date for "Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace" for the fall. Lifetime shared a brief teaser for "Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace" on their official Instagram, and it is full of flashes of the couple's turbulent last few years, which were previously imagined for television in the shows Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance from 2018 and Harry and Meghan: Becoming Royal from 2019.

The movie is set to explore the anguish and pain that both Harry and Meghan felt during their years of service for the Crown and also looks at the distress that Harry faced when he helplessly looked on as Meghan continued to be mistreated by the media. The short preview shows snippets of the movie, such as Harry waking up in a cold sweat as he tells Meghan, "I see you literally being hounded to death, and I'm powerless to stop it." However, it isn't all dark and serious; the movie touches upon tender moments such as the birth of baby Lilibet and the Sussex's time with their son, Archie.

The message of the movie is bittersweet: "Not all fairy tales have the perfect ending." This is certainly true for Meghan and Harry, both of whom have been criticized and hounded by the media since their marriage. Jordan Dean takes on Harry's role quite well while Sydney Morton gracefully plays Meghan. Royal fans must certainly be excited to see how the movie portrays the iconic couple, and Lifetime Network movies are of high quality and touch upon deep emotions in their viewers.

A lot of the struggles that Meghan and Harry faced were touched upon by the couple in early 2021. On March 7, 2021, Meghan and Harry sat down for a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey that not only touched upon their lives post-Megxit, but also revealed some of the struggles and issues the couples had surrounding Meghan marrying into the family, their son Archie and more. The interview also covered the familiar topic of mental health, harkening back to Harry's mother Princess Diana, who was very outspoken on the topic. Meghan critiqued the British monarchy as an institution, Harry talked about relationship tensions with his father and brother and together the pair discussed personal security. Since the big interview, even more information about Harry's feelings on the royal family has come out.

Harry was the featured guest on Dax Shepard's "Armchair Expert" podcast, where he spoke candidly about his experience as being born into the royal family. He described life as a royal as a mix between "'The Truman Show,' and being in a zoo." Harry also revealed that he had previously thought about leaving his royal duties behind, even as early as in his 20s, before he met Meghan. He said the thought of leaving came after he was told to "grin and bear" his problems and just "get on with it."

Harry and Meghan also embarked on a docuseries project for mental health awareness with Oprah Winfrey. The show, "The Me You Can't See," is executive produced by Oprah and Harry and featured the two discussing emotional well-being and mental health with a number of celebrity guests, including Lady Gaga and Glenn Close. There is certainly a lot of content that the movie can use, and we look forward to seeing it in the future.
