Prince George Was Spotted In Public For The First Time Since Kate Middleton’s Tearful Health Confession

Early 2024 saw the British royal family rocked by news of serious health issues. Buckingham Palace announced on January 17, 2024, that King Charles III was scheduled to undergo hospital treatment the following week for an enlarged prostate. The next day, his wife, Queen Camilla, said Charles was feeling “fine” and “looking forward to getting back to work.” 

That same day, Kensington Palace revealed in a statement that the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, had undergone abdominal surgery that had been scheduled the day prior at the London Clinic. It said the surgery had been “successful” and that the princess would remain at the hospital for a 10–14-day recovery period. However, the statement added that Kate was unlikely to resume her usual royal duties until after Easter.

News of the pair’s hospitalization led to an outpouring of well wishes and support from their supporters across the world. This came as no surprise as both Charles and Kate are among some of the most popular members of the royal family.

Charles ascended the throne after the death of Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, on September 8, 2022. As king, Charles endeavored to ensure the royal family remained in good standing with the public, adapting to modern times to prevent the institution from being perceived as outdated.

In February 2024, it was revealed that King Charles III was diagnosed with cancer. Following that, the public was very interested in knowing how Kate had been doing after she hadn’t been seen publicly for some time. After weeks of speculation, Kate squashed the rumors and appeared in a tearful video announcing her cancer diagnosis. 

The Wales then spent the weeks that came after privately, but on April 11, 2024, Prince William and Prince George were spotted for the first time since Kate’s harrowing announcement.

Kensington Palace’s initial statement about Kate’s health stated that the princess would not return to her royal duties until after Easter. However, this came well before Kate’s video announcement of her cancer diagnosis, in which she said:

“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.” 

With Kate’s harrowing diagnosis, many wondered why she kept her condition from the public for so long. 

In her video, Kate offered an explanation about it. 

“As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok,” she added. 

The Princess of Wales says they need “some time, space and privacy” while she completes her treatment. 

On March 28, 2024, Daily Express captured a photo of the Prince and Princess of Wales’ helicopter leaving Adelaide Cottage in Windsor. 

“Princess Kate and William snapped in helicopter on way to spend Easter break at Anmer Hall,” the caption said. 

According to Entertainment Tonight, Kate, William, and their children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Loius – were headed to Anmer Hall, which is located on Sandringham Estate. Since then, the Wales was not seen until Prince William and Prince George stepped out on April 11, 2024, for a rare outing.

Prince William and Prince George had been spotted watching their favorite soccer team, Aston Villa, as they faced Lille OSC during the UEFA Europa Conference League 2023/24 quarterfinal match in Birmingham on April 11, 2024. 

Several fans had spotted the duo at a nearby establishment. Many were thrilled to see them out in public despite Kate’s condition. 

“Just wow. Two future kings just enjoying a fabulous night without security to the Tee or some type of stupid drama. Prince William and Prince George are the finest father and son duo,” a user said on Twitter/X. 

“It was such a lovely surprise to see #PrinceWilliam and his son today at the football game. And wow #PrinceGeorge is growing so fast. 😍🙌😍#PrinceWilliamIsAKing #PrinceGeorgeisaKing,” another gushed. 

“So wonderful to see Their Royal Highnesses #PrinceWilliam and #PrinceGeorge out at Villa this evening ❤️👑,” one posted. 

“Just normal dad & son stuff of two unassuming future Kings,” a fan said. 

This was the first time Prince George and Prince William had been spotted since Kate’s moving video announcing her diagnosis. 

Meanwhile, Royal commentator Sarah Vine and hosts Bev Turner and Andrew Pierce discussed Kate’s confession video on GBN. 

Vine agreed with Turner about the fact that Kate told her children first about the diagnosis before they could learn it from others. 

“It’s very important to try and manage the children, because it’s just really frightening knowing that your mother’s ill and they will be probably have a lot of questions,” Vine said, prompting Pierce to agree: “And also kids on the playground are cruel, and it’s better that it’s not exposed to the kids on the playground just yet.”
