Pierce Brosnan, 69, Might Be The Sexiest Celebrity Grandpa Alive As He Welcomes 4th Grandchild

Pierce Brosnan is an Irish actor most known for his role as secret agent James Bond in four films from the franchise, including "Golden Eye," "Tomorrow Never Dies," "The World Is Not Enough" and "Die Another Day." It was in the romance-musical "Mamma Mia!" that audiences were first introduced to a more playful side of the actor. He returned for the sequel "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again" in 2018.

Apart from being an actor, Pierce Brosnan is also a family man. He wed his first wife, Cassandra Harris, in 1980, and the couple was married for 11 years. She had two children with her previous husband, Chris and Charlotte, whom Brosnan adopted. The couple had their first child together, Sean, in 1983. Sadly, Harris passed away in 1991, which made Brosnan a widower. 

In 1994, Brosnan met Keely Shaye Smith, an American journalist, at a party in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The couple went on to have two sons, Dylan and Paris and later married in 2001 in Ireland. 

Despite the huge family tree, Brosnan has remained on top of his family as head of the household. Not only is he a father to his growing sons with Smith, but he is also a loving grandpa to Sean and Charlotte’s children. 

On many occasions, Brosnan has been very proud of showing off his grandchildren on social media and even talking dearly about them in interviews. Still acting at the age of 69, Brosnan juggles the life of an A-list actor and family life in his home in Hawaii with his wife. 

Very recently, Brosnan welcomed a new addition to his growing family — his new grandson, Sean’s newborn child. Read on to learn more about Brosnan taking on his biggest role yet — a celebrity grandpa!

Even though Brosnan has had a successful Hollywood career, his life has been dotted with immense personal tragedy. His first wife, Harris, to whom he was married for 11 years, passed away from ovarian cancer in 1991. After grieving her loss, Brosnan later also grieved the loss of his daughter Charlotte, who succumbed to the same illness in 2013. But despite the unfortunate ending of his first marriage, the next chapter of his life was marked with new and happier beginnings. 

He went on to wed Smith and became a father of two dashing sons – Paris and Dylan, who followed their father’s artistic footsteps and ventured into modeling and arts in the past few years. 

Meanwhile, Brosnan is also incredibly proud of his firstborn son Sean, who is also a father to Marley May Cassandra, born in 2015, which makes Brosnan a granddad. On his Instagram account, Brosnan is nothing but a proud grandparent to Marley, whose name holds a dear meaning to him — May is the name of Brosnan’s mother, while Cassandra is the name of his late wife. 

Being a grandpa is something that Brosnan knows firsthand, as he was raised by his own grandparents after he was abandoned by his father, and his mother went to England to become a nurse. 

“Breakfast with my darling granddaughter Marley May ... be still my heart ❤,” he said on an Instagram post of Marley sitting on her highchair. 

On Marley's 4th birthday, Brosnan greeted his granddaughter with a cute Instagram post in which she looked as posh and cute as ever with a denim jacket and autumn scarf!

“Happy 4th birthday my beautiful sweet granddaughter Marley May,” he captioned the post.

Speaking to Independent Ireland, Brosnan revealed that even though he can already see himself aging, family life seemed to have made it better. 

"But I'm a proud grandfather now. There's still a lot of life in the old man and I'll keep going till I can go no more. Life is so precious. It can be snatched away without any prior warning so why waste it?” he said. "That's why I enjoy my wonderful, beautiful family, my children and my grandchildren."

Although Marley is Sean’s firstborn, she is actually Brosnan's third grandchild, as his late daughter Charlotte had two children too — Isabella, who is already 22, and Lucas, 18. 

Then on Nov. 12, 2022, Sean’s wife, Sanja Banic, gave birth to their second child, making Brosnan a grandpa of four! Sharing to his 1.8 million followers on Instagram, Brosnan posted a photo of his new grandchild, Jaxxon Elijah Brosnan. 

“All good blessings to you my dearest grandson, welcome. Congratulations my darling Sean, Sanja and Marley. Peace be with you,” he wrote. 

Many well-wishers flocked to the comment section and gushed over Jaxxon’s cuteness. 

“Congrats! Holiday babies are the best. They make us slow down and enjoy the snuggles a little more,” a user said. 

"Congratulations to you all. He's absolutely gorgeous. I hope mum and baby are doing well. Sending love from the UK. Welcome to the world, little one,” another posted. 

In a 2017 appearance on "Live with Kelly and Ryan," Brosnan praised the "joy" of being a grandfather:

"It's just such a joy to be a grandparent … there is just something intoxicating about it and beautiful. There is something very special about it."
