Photographer Uses AI To Create Portrait Of How Diana Would Look Today

Aside from Queen Elizabeth II, the late Princess Diana of Wales has been one of the most prominent members of the British Royal Family so far. Despite her tragic passing in 1997, she has remained to be one of the most talked about figures to date. Needless to say, the public was devastated to have lost her at an early age. In an effort to give people who have been missing the Princess of the People, artist Alper Yesiltas published a set of Artificial Intelligence Portraits that depicted what celebrities would look like if they were still alive. Included in the list is Princess Diana's photograph, which has surprised many because of how realistic and how awe-striking she would still be. 

Born into the British nobility, Princess Diana grew up close to the royal family and later married into it when she married King Charles III in 1981, thus making her the Princess of Wales. The general public had a fondness for the new Princess and took to her liking pretty well. However, the couple's marriage was full of problems, leading to a separation in 1992 and a divorce in 1996. Diana died on Aug. 31, 1997, from the injuries she sustained in a car crash in a tunnel in Paris, France.

Although Princess Diana tragically passed away, her legacy has lived on over the 25 years since her passing. Known as an icon for her fashion, poise, and motherhood — Princess Diana was a one-of-a-kind royal family member. She wanted to be known for more than the glitz and glamor that came with her public outings and role, and instead for being an outstanding mother. 

Based in Istanbul, Turkey, photography & lawyer Alper Yesiltas has been imagining scenes and capturing memories for about 18 years already. His photos and artworks have already been recognized in different contests and were included in many books, magazines, and websites, and have been exhibited already worldwide. 

Yesiltas has captured the hearts of many people on the internet after posting a series of photographs that he has generated with the help of Artificial Intelligence. Among the other artists that he has created are Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury, John Lennon, Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, Elvis Presley, and Princess Diana of Wales. 

In an interview with My Modern Met, Yesiltas revealed that his photo series called "As If Nothing Happened" is a collection of photos that depicts the late celebrities and what they would look like in 2022 if they were still alive. 

"When I started tinkering with the technology. I saw what I could do and thought about what would make me the happiest: I wanted to see some of the people I missed again in front of me," he told the media outlet. 

Looking at the photo-realistic portrait, Yesiltas made sure that Princess Diana still looked regal and had a great job encapsulating the radiant and timeless beauty of the Princess of the People.

If Princess Diana had survived the tragic car crash in 1997, she would have been 61 years old in 2022 and could have mended the drifting relationship between his two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. She could have also met her two daughters-in-law, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, along with her five grandchildren, Prince George, Prince Charlotte, Prince Louis, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet.
