Grammy-award winning a cappella group Pentatonix performed the Bee Gees' 1978 hit Too Much Heaven at the 2017 'Stayin’ Alive: A Grammy Salute to the Music of the Bee Gees' hosted by the Recording Academy.

They were just ten feet away from the only surviving member of the Bee Gees, Barry Gibbs, who was seen smiling as he watched the quintet cover one of his group's songs.

Pentatonix Prepare To Take The Stage

As Pentatonix prepared to sing Too Much Heaven, singer Kristen Maldonado remarked, “It’s such an iconic song. It’s quite an honor.” All five Pentatonix singers were eager to show some love to the group that had inspired so many of their glorious harmonies. Scott Hoying quipped, “We are not going to screw up your song – we promise.”

Pentatonix Perform

As Pentatonix stood on stage ready to perform, a low-key percussion accompaniment awaited their lush harmonies. When the multiple Grammy winners began singing, the crowd was bathed in beautiful music.

The subtly jewel-toned lighting and background scenery complemented their message in music.

Barry Gibbs Loves It

“Nobody gets too much love anymore,” except for Barry Gibbs. The Bee Gees star clearly loved the performance, closing his eyes to luxuriate in their celestial sounds. As the audience applauded the beaming members of Pentatonix, Barry bowed toward the group and mouthed “thank you” to this special group.
