Pastor’s Uncanny Resemblance & Voice Have Fans Convinced He’s The Real Elvis Presley In Hiding

Five decades after the death of the “King of Rock’ n’ Roll” Elvis Presley, some of his die-hard fans are convinced that he is still alive and simply wants to avoid the limelight. Presley died from a cardiac arrest at just 42 years old and was buried at Graceland. However, like any icon gone too soon, some fans struggle with accepting the tragedy of his loss. Conspiracy theories about Presley still being alive have spread since his untimely death. These theories tend to find new life with the discovery of every new Elvis lookalike. However, it is rare for someone to look exactly like the late singer, let alone also sound like him. 

Now, a pastor from Arkansas has found himself needing to deny claims that he is Presley because he not only bears an uncanny resemblance to Presley but also sounds just like him. Bob Joyce, 72, from Benton, Arkansas, possesses the same voice that made the “Can’t Help Falling In Love With You” crooner a household name. After a video of him singing the hymn “How Great Thou Art” went viral on YouTube, conspiracy theorists went wild with their idea of him really being Presley. Presley himself recorded his own rendition of this classic hymn in 1967. 

Social media users instantly flooded the comments section with the theory, growing increasingly convinced. One user adamantly alleged:

“This is truly Elvis. No one else could sing this favorite hymn of mine like Elvis.”

Another was quick to agree, offering the pastor all their patience and support until he revealed his true identity.

“His voice will never change. We love you and hope you tell us one day the story of your life. I know who he is and so does everyone else,” they wrote.

The Presley fans continued justifying their theory that Pastor Joyce is indeed the iconic singer but is unwilling to reveal his true identity. Many linked Joyce’s religion to Presley’s love for gospel music. One YouTube user reminisced on her love for Presley as a child and how proud she was that he could potentially be alive and singing the genre.

“Wow!! I can’t stop listening. He was such a huge part of my life growing up. He also loved our Lord and Savior. I see him spreading the gospel as a lifelong love. There is NO mistake this God given talent that is Elvis Presley,” she commented.   

All this prompted the Arkansas pastor to debunk the theories. He insisted he was simply a messenger of God and not Presley. When asked whether he is the late “Jailhouse Rock” singer, Joyce said:

“No, I’m not Elvis. Lots of people ask me that… I got started and I was trying to tell everybody, ‘No, I’m not Elvis.’”

Meanwhile, one thing that doesn’t match up is the ages of Joyce and Presley. Presley would have been 89 in 2024, while Joyce is just 61, a fact he pointed out. However, he said he also understands people’s love for Presley and why they would want to convince themselves that their idol was still alive. 

“Most of these folks know I am not Elvis but to them it doesn’t matter. They are only so grateful that God is blessing them and reviewing their lives,” he said.

He also added an optimistic outlook on the whole saga, suggesting:

“Perhaps God is using Elvis’ voice to minister to broken hearts and broken lives.”

Still, some fans remain unconvinced and one has even revealed that all his congregants know he’s Elvis. However, the pastor’s website has clearly warned people not to be fooled by any accounts in his name looking to extort them. He confirmed he only has one Facebook account and any alternatives were fake.
