The South China Morning Post reported that the flight attendants tried to warn the woman not to tamper with the emergency door. In spite of these warnings, the woman was very stubborn, and she turned the lever to open the hatch and make herself more comfortable. The passengers and flight attendants reacted with shock to this bizarre behavior. A video is available online that shows this incident as passengers witnessed these strange events.
The crew of the plane immediately alerted the police. The officers responded quickly. They boarded the plane and took the woman to the police station. The flight that had been scheduled to take off at 3:45 that afternoon ended up being delayed due to the strange incident. The woman had caused the plane to be delayed for a total of an hour.
After the woman was removed from the plane, the door had to be sealed shut again, and another safety inspection had to be carried out before the plane could take off. The plane finally departed and arrived at its destination an hour and a half later. It is not known if the woman is going to be charged with a crime. The China's Public Security Administration Punishment Law states that passengers who damage planes can be detained for up to 15 days.
