Parrot’s Devotion To Stuffed Toy Is So Cute, You’ll Want To Give Him The Hug He’s Asked For

Bowie is a ringneck parakeet from Vancouver, Canada. His mother, Joanne, uploads videos of him to Youtube on her Youtube channel. The channel is called Peekaboo Parrots, and you can see Joanne's several birds there. However, Bowie takes up most of the videos with his adorable and eccentric personality. Since Bowie is a parrot, he has the ability to speak. And like many parrots, he is playful and curious.

Parrots need to socialize and play with toys in order to stay healthy. This is to stimulate the parrot's natural environment in the wild, where parrots often socialize with one another, forage, climb, fly, and do many other activities. If a parrot is unable to get the attention they need, they will suffer from behavioral and medical problems such as screaming, self-mutilation, and diabetes. To keep Bowie happy and healthy, his mom provided him with a toy to keep him stimulated.

When Bowie climbs out of his cage, he immediately heads over to his toy, completely ignoring the other bird in the room. Since parrots would normally play with another bird, it is interesting that he chooses the toy instead. He must really love the toy. He mutters a few things to the toy before asking, "whatcha doing?" Bowie wants to know how his toy friend is! He then tells the toy, "I love you" and asks it for hugs by saying "give me hug?" To show his gratitude to his toy, he even tells his toy "thank you!"

After expressing his love for the toy, Bowie starts to play a game with it. Bowie ducks his head down and then shouts "Peek-a-boo!" before popping back up. His eyes shrink while playing. This is a behavioral display called "eye pinning". While this might look scary, it actually means Bowie is feeling excited and happy!

While Bowie clearly has plenty of parrot playmates, he still prefers playing with his toy over playing with them. His love for his toy is adorable, and it makes you wish he'd ask you for a hug, too.
