Trigger Warning: This article contains mentions of suicide that may be troubling for some readers.
The late Michael Jackson's daughter Paris Jackson joined many others in commemorating Father's Day 2023. The young adult took to her social media page, posting a rare throwback featuring the King of Pop in dad mode. Paris's post came almost fourteen years after Michael passed away.
Before his tragic demise, Michael led a most prosperous public life, which was a sign of his musical prowess and charismatic presence. During his lifetime, the music legend fathered three children: Prince, Paris and Bigi, formerly known as Blanket. His two oldest kids, Prince and Paris, were from his marriage to Debbie Rowe. Michael welcomed Bigi via surrogacy.
His oldest child, Prince, was 12 when the "Thriller" crooner died. Prince is building a path for himself as an adult through several interests. Prince graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 2019 with a degree in Business Administration. Before completing his studies, the young adult co-founded the Heal Los Angeles Foundation with a friend.
During the pandemic, Prince collaborated with a meal company to provide food for those in need. The young man told People at the time that he knew his father would have been proud of his efforts. Speaking about the musician at the 40th anniversary of Thriller, Prince mentioned that what he missed most about his dad were his big, firm but gentle hands.
His sister, Paris, was born one year after him in 1998 and named after the city where she was conceived. As an adult, Paris had followed in her dad's footsteps making music in the indie genre. Paris and her siblings don't spend too much time in the public eye, but in past years, she struggled publicly.
Before age 15, Paris was dealing with addiction issues, and she attempted suicide several times. In a 2017 interview with Rolling Stone, the singer expressed feelings of self-hatred, low self-esteem and thinking she could not do anything right. Two years later, Paris sought professional help by checking into a treatment facility for a wellness plan.
Michael's youngest child, Bigi, is the most private of all of his kids. He changed his nickname from Blanket to Bigi in 2015 after being bullied by his peers. The youngster has started his adult years but maintains a low profile. In a rare 2021 interview, he revealed that he would like to impact the world. Bigi is also passionate about climate change.
The Jackson siblings might have different interests, but they are close-knit. It is safe to say that their wish to remain private could be traced back to when their father was alive. Michael was known for hiding their face during public appearances. Through it all, it is clear that his children adored him for how they were raised.
Once speaking to Naomi Campbell in an exclusive, Paris reminisced on her childhood with the pop legend. She noted that she was "raised kind of everywhere. The East Coast, the South, the U.K., Europe, the Middle East. We grew up everywhere."
The songstress considered it a "blessing and privilege" to grow up in that way and experience "so much at a young age." Paris said about her beloved famous father:
"My dad was really good about making sure we were cultured, making sure we were educated, and not just showing us the glitz and glam, like hotel hopping five-star places."

Paris added that they also got to see the other side of life, including third-world countries and "every part of the spectrum." She also spoke about her dad's belief in working for what one wants. She noted that she and her siblings earned whatever reward they got when he was alive.
This mentality followed Paris into adulthood and played a huge role in her music career. In her Rolling Stone interview, she shared that nine of her 50 tattoos were dedicated to her late dad because he "brought me nothing but joy."
For Father's Day in 2023, Paris reposted a rare image from a fan's Instagram account showing one of their precious family moments. Michael and his kids were photographed standing in the kitchen. The late singer bore a big smile while looking radiant in an all-black outfit. He rocked a pair of dark shades as he held little Bigi.
The older kids, Paris and Prince, seemed to be enjoying a baking session as they mixed some dough. While Prince, in an orange shirt, flashed a smile similar to his dad's, Paris seemed focused on the dough using a wooden spatula. The caption read with a white heart emoji:
"Happy Father's Day."
The Father's Day message was shared a few days before the fourteenth anniversary of Michael's death. The pivotal singer passed away on June 25, 2009, after suffering cardiac arrest. This was due to a propofol overdose. He was pronounced dead after the paramedics took him to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. Michael passed away at age 50.
