Paris Hilton, the socialite and reality star known for her catchphrase of the 00's "That's Hot" has recently been in the media due to widely circulating rumors that she is pregnant. Hilton, 40, who is engaged to fiancé Carter Reum, took to social media to set the record straight, however, and vehemently denied these rumors on July 28, 2021.
Hilton is not new to rumors in her life. The socialite turned businesswoman has lived in the glare of the spotlight for most of her life, and she is no stranger to tabloid reports that scrutinize her life. However, Hilton expressed deep frustration at the media making things up about her for their own gain. This sentiment is true for everyone, of course; no one likes to be lied about, especially in such a public manner.
Hilton detailed in a new installment of her "This Is Paris" podcast the events that followed the publishing of the rumors, and the number of calls and texts she had to deal with afterward. She also showed her humorous side as she even joked about the events in her 9-minute-long podcast which was aptly titled, "This is... I'm Pregnant??"
Hilton revealed in January 2021 that she was undergoing IVF treatment, shortly after which she got engaged to Reum. It has certainly been an eventful year for the "Simple Life" star in many good ways, but false rumors such as Hilton's non-existence pregnancy have made things more difficult for her. Hilton has taken opportunities previously to speak out against the media's constant attention on the starlet since the 2000s.
Hilton posted a link to her podcast's Twitter account, which was captioned, "This is... I'm Pregnant?? You may have heard some news about me. Get the real story. I want you to hear it all directly from me..."
In her podcast, HuffPost reported that she denied the rumors of pregnancy and said that she was "sick of people making up things," adding that she wanted to get married before having any children. "My dress is being made right now so I want to make sure it looks gorgeous and fits perfectly, so definitely waiting for that part," Hilton elaborated.
Before she denied her pregnancy, she joked and said that she was, in fact, pregnant with triplets, but also added, "The only thing in the oven at the moment is my 'Sliving' lasagna." She warned her fans that they should not believe everything they read online.
Hilton described the aftermath of the media publishing these rumors as well. "I also woke up to about 3,000 texts. All my iPhones are blowing up — all five of them. Everyone wishing me congratulations and so happy for me. Heard from people I haven’t heard from in years!"
Hilton opened up to Variety Magazine about how she felt about the floating pregnancy rumors, and how the industry ahs changed since her days in the spotlight in the early 2000s. At the time, Hilton was in her 20s and was a "tabloid magnet" who was scrutinized for her every move. Hilton took all this attention she faced and turned it into a lucrative empire, much like Kim Kardashian and the rest of her family.

However, as Hilton has entered her 40s, she has made it clear that things in the media need to change for women. "When I started out in this industry, I had no control over anything," Hilton told Variety. "Starting out in the early 2000s, I noticed that women were just vilified in ways that men would never be — maybe for dating someone, or for the way they lived their life. Women have always been talked down on, and if a man did the same exact thing, no one would say anything."
Hilton opened up and said that her mother had told her to not respond to false tabloid reports because she would draw unnecessary attention to nonsense, but Hilton realizes that things are different now.
"I just feel like it’s important to tell the truth. People shouldn’t just get away with making up stories," Hilton told the magazine. "I was just wearing a pushup bra for my new lingerie line — I thought it was making me look sexy, but I guess they thought I was pregnant."
Hilton confirmed that even though she was used to it, it should not happen in the first place. "I’m used to it, but I don’t think it should happen. I think people should be more responsible with what they put out into the world."
Hilton fully believes in the power of social media and said that she is glad that women can now call out false stories instantly on their own platform and take charge of the narrative. This issue has become especially relevant today with the ongoing battle for Britney Spears's conservatorship case.
