Matt and Melissa Graves had their worst nightmare become a reality at Disney World back in 2016, but are attempting to make the best of the situation.

Their son Lane was snatched by an alligator and killed, in a story that caught global attention.

The Graves family was outside of their hotel by a small lake, which happens to be the home of a handful of large alligators. People have even been known to swim in the lake, although there are also signs that warn of alligators in it.

The situation is truly horrific, but Matt and Melissa Graves are trying to turn the situation into something positive. They have created a foundation, the Lane Thomas Foundation, that is dedicated to supporting parents who have suddenly lost a child.

The foundation is also focused on creating awareness for organ donation, which is a proven way to save lives.

“Lane had a very special light about him. We promised him at his wake we would turn this tragedy into good for many families,” Matt Graves told AP news.

Losing a child is without question one of the hardest things a person can go through in life, but the way they are handling their loss is truly inspiring. They are working to create a network to support other people that are suffering in the same manner, which truly is a beautiful thing.

Even though it is tragic that they lost their son, the actions they are taking will benefit others and provide comfort to people who are in a dire situation.

However, there seems to be some good news coming from the Graves family; in September 2018, they made the announcement that they welcomed a new baby boy into their family.

“Although we know the pain of losing Lane will never go away, we feel God has blessed our family with this precious miracle of life,” said the couple in a statement .“We know Ella and Christian have their brother, Lane, watching over them as their guardian angel.”

According to PEOPLE magazine, the couple decided to name their son Christian Lane Graves in honor of their late son.

Congratulations ot the couple on their newest addition to the family. What do you think of this story? Let us know in the comments - and make sure you pass this along to your friends and family!
