Parents Give Their Tip To Make Traveling With A Toddler ‘So Much Easier’
Apr 19, 2023 by apost team
Raising children is no easy task, so it’s common for parents to turn to each other or other resources for advice. Everyone has their own parenting style, and it’s common that that style will evolve as children get older. Of course, there will most likely be some situations that are more challenging than others, but that’s when parents can choose how to best handle those scenarios.
Children are known to be unpredictable at times, so figuring out the best way to ensure their safety and overall well-being is something that parents long for. Fortunately, there are many tips and tricks to help new parents and seasoned parents along the way.
George and Deborah Goddard run an Instagram account where they share what it’s like raising their child, Nelio. In their bio, they explain that their account is based on “life with baby,” “parenting hacks” and “family fun.” The family has showcased everything from how to get your toddler to stop going in your kitchen cabinets to helping a baby go through their teething process.
In January 2023, the Goddard family went viral for posting a video that was described as a hack for traveling with a toddler. The video showed an inventive way of ensuring that a parent’s child wouldn’t be able to stray too far from them – or at all – as well as ensuring that everyone’s luggage was within arm’s reach.
While some found the hack very useful, others criticized it for seeming unsafe. Read on to learn more about this mom and dad’s parenting hack.

The Goddard family posted a video on Instagram that showed a trick on how to travel with a toddler. Nelio was zipped up in his jacket, but the jacket also covered the handles of a suitcase, making it so the toddler was sitting on top of the suitcase and would not be able to move too much. The video was captioned:
“Best hack for traveling with a little one 🙌🏽 baby carriers are bulky to travel with and annoying when you get on the plane to take off, hold child, and stow. Strollers are great for the before or after but such a hassle to get through security. Plus, there is a high probability the airline will break it or take 12 years to unload it.”
The parents said that this tip “makes your life so much easier,” and added, “The key is zipping them up so they don’t go anywhere.”
Many people left critiques and suggestions for the parents to potentially make the hack better and safer. “The only thing I would do differently is put the jacket on backwards. Just to make sure the the baby can’t unzip the jacket,” one person commented.
Another person said, “Creative idea for a fun video. But not practical as those suitcases constantly fall over and there is nothing stopping the baby from falling to the other side, only has to lift one leg. Babies usually fall ‘smart,’ but attaching them to something makes it impossible for the baby to land ‘smart.’”
Still, others found the tip to be extremely helpful. “Great hack! 😍 I think lots of haters out there, but when you have kids you know well their limitations and you have to think outside the box. Thank you for the tip 👏,” one person shared.
