Too many health experts believe that the best first aid for tired legs is simply water, salt, and grass. But is there more to it than that? You bet!
Contrasting Temperatures
A contrast shower is a great way to make your legs feel better after a hard day. Stand in the shower and let the cold water hit your feet for ten seconds and then switch to ten seconds of hot water. Repeat this three times and then moisturize your legs with body lotion.
You can also take two containers and fill them with cold and hot water. Alternate soaking your feet in the containers for two minutes at a time, five times total. Just remember, if you have kidney disease, this remedy is not recommended.
Salt Bath
Fill up a container with warm water and mix in two teaspoons of sea salt. Soak your feet for a total of ten minutes. This will relieve the achiness in your feet and legs.
Herbal Bath
Combine two teaspoons of mint with two teaspoons of chamomile and mix them up in hot water. Let the water sit for a good half an hour and then soak your feet in the mixture for quick relief.
Herbal Ice Cubes
Herbal ice cubes are great for leg fatigue. Use sage, yarrow, lemon balm, chamomile, and calendula. Freeze the herbs with water and wipe your tired feet with them.
Essential Oils
Add a diluted mixture of three drops of essential oils to a bit of olive oil to your bath. Choose juniper, lavender, lemon, cypress, mint, or eucalyptus. Soak in the essential oil mixture for about fifteen minutes.
Exercise and Massage
Improve your circulation by lying on the couch or floor and leaning your legs up on the wall. You may also take a hot bath and then use circular motions to massage your feet, paying close attention to your foot arches and heels. You’ll want to slowly and gently massage your calves, as well.
Tennis Ball Exercise
Take a tennis ball and gently roll it under your feet to relax your muscles and leg joints. You can even pick up little items with your toes as a stress reliever!
