Newborn Feline Scheduled To Be Put Down Rescued By Woman

Zeke, a precious little 13-week-old black and white kitty, was on death row. He had an incurable medical condition known as hydrocephalus, which causes fluid to collect on the brain. Characterized by an abnormally large head, this dangerous condition is more commonly described as "water in the brain."
In 2016, Zeke was scheduled for euthanasia due to his condition and many other genetic disorders, which meant he needed round the clock care. That's when Lisa Jones, a rescue worker at the Super Heros Animal Hydrocephalus Society, stepped in at the very last minute and rescued him.

Before he was rescued, Zeke lives at a shelter in Texas. In addition to Hydrocephaly, Zeke has many other health defects like a lack of radius bone in his forearms, only having three toes on both his front paws, and an abnormally short and deformed tail. The poor kitten also had other health impairments like a heart condition, a megaesophagus, megacolon, impaired intestines, and a deformed spine.
Naturally, Zeke's multiple conditions made a potential adoption challenging, and at 13 weeks old, the shelter where he was staying had scheduled him in for euthanasia.

Lisa Jones, who runs the Super Heros Animal Hydrocephalus Society came across a Facebook post about Zeke on the shelter's Facebook page, and just knew she had to help. According to the rescue's Facebook page, they run as a non-profit cat rescue and sanctuary that aims to help cats with Hydrocephalus.
Jones drove down to Texas herself to pick the kitten up and then take him all the way up to his new home in New York.
At his new home at the sanctuary, Zeke got to hang out with his new brothers and sisters, who all had Hydrocephalus as well. Because he was in a sanctuary for cats with that specific condition, Zeke was able to get the round the clock care he needed. Unfortunately, decided the rescue workers' efforts, Jones announced on Facebook that he had passed away in December 2018.
Zeke might have passed, but the rescue still has other cats under their care for whom they go through great lengths to help and foster. If you would like to support their cause, you can make a donation on their website.
