New Whitney Houston Song Just Released 7 Years Following Her Death

Fans of the late Whitney Houston have a new track to listen to in memory of the legendary singer. The track was released last week by DJ-producer Kygo.
The track, titled “Higher Love”, is a remixed version of her cover for Steve Winwood’s song of the same name, which was originally released in 1986. The cover was previously released as a bonus track on her album "I’m Your Baby Tonight" (1990) on a pressing only available in Japan. The DJ performed the song for the first time in front of an audience on Sunday at what's probably this year's biggest Pride event, Utopia, in New York City.
"I was honored when the Whitney Houston estate reached out and presented me with the opportunity to work with one of the greatest female vocalists of all time," Kygo said in a statement. "I reworked the song from scratch and am really happy with how it turned out!"

Pat Houston, Whitney’s sister-in-law, said in a statement of her own:
"The Estate of Whitney E. Houston and our new partner Primary Wave are delighted with the collaboration between Kygo and Whitney. We knew Kygo would be the right producer to enhance Whitney’s powerful vocal performance on 'Higher Love,' to the standards and expectations that Whitney’s fans have recognized for over three decades."
"The resurgence of this precious archival performance will carry Whitney’s musical legacy on to a younger generation for years to come," she continued. "Everyone should be ready to dance to this uplifting and inspiring record – a testament to Kygo's incredible talent, and a reminder of why we fell in love with Whitney from the very beginning!"
Whitney Houston passed away on February 11th, 2012 at the age of 48. According to Billboard, her estate has a number of projects in the pipeline centered around the late singer. The projects include previously unreleased music, a rumored Broadway musical, and even a hologram tour. Dionne Warwick, a cousin to Whitney, recently spoke to reporters at Entertainment Tonight about a potential hologram tour, although she seemed less than enthusiastic about the project:
"I haven't a clue as to what that is. It's surprising to me, I don't know what it is. I think it's stupid, but whatever it is, that's what it is."
