NASCAR Driver Ryan Newman Still In Serious Though Non-Life-Threatening Condition After Daytona 500 Crash

NASCAR provided an update on Roush Fenway Racing driver Ryan Newman’s condition after his heart-stopping crash in the final lap of Daytona 500.
On Monday, February 17, Ryan Newman was taking the lead in the last lap of the Daytona 500 with Ryan Blaney right behind him. While Newman tried to block runner-up but was bumped from behind by Blaney. The contact sent Newman’s car crashing into a wall and had it landing upside-down on its roof.
Within a matter of seconds, Corey LaJoie’s car hit Newman’s car at full speed sending it airborne. The car landed upside-down and slid several hundred feet on its roof in a shower of sparks and flames.

Luckily, Daytona 500’s emergency personnel responded immediately flipping the back car over again to get Newman out of the life-threatening situation. Still, it wasn’t too easy and it took them about 10 minutes to free the 42-year-old driver and sent him straight to a local hospital.
NASCAR now posted a statement on Newman’s health status after his tragic accident. As they reported he is currently receiving medical treatment at Halifax Medical Center. They further stated, “He’s in serious condition, but doctors have indicated that his injuries are non-life-threatening.”
NASCAR ended its statement by thanking all fans for keeping Ryan Newman and his family in their thoughts and prayers. Still, they asked the public to respect the privacy of the Newman family.
