Known for his successful and long-standing career in Hollywood, Tony Shalhoub has quite the award collection to showcase his A-list work in the entertainment industry. Over the course of time, he has won five Emmy Awards, one Golden Globe, six Screen Actors Guild Awards, one Tony Award, and one Grammy Award.

Before achieving endless accolades, Shalhoub was born in October 1953. He was born into a large family. He was the ninth child of ten when he was born and raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin. After graduating high school, Shalhoub went on to eventually graduate from the Yale School of Drama in 1980. Shortly after graduating, the young man would make his mark on the world.

Starting with his acting background in theatre, Shalhoub moved to New York, where he made his Broadway debut in 1985. Starring in "The Odd Couple," the actor would start to land bigger and bigger roles. Eventually, he would land a role that would bring him more than money or more fame. In 1988 while working on the Broadway production of "The Heidi Chronicles," Shalhoub would meet actress Brooke Adams. Extending one of his contracts to work with her even longer, the two fell in love a few years later. They would tie the knot and get married in 1992.

Both Adams and Shalhoub have worked tirelessly throughout the years on entertainment projects as well as their marriage. Having been so successful in their careers, the couple hasn't shown they will be slowing down anytime soon. Between work and family, the couple seems happy to be busy and fulfilled all these years later.

In an exclusive interview with Martha's Vineyard, Art & Ideas in 2020, Tony Shalhoub said:

"My contract was up in February, but because Brooke was in it, I re-upped for another four months because I couldn't extricate myself."

The couple has been together for nearly 30 years. Shalhoub said it was all about timing back then.

"We were really simpatico. I guess, too, it has a lot to do with where you are in your life, and your sense of readiness," he said.

"When we got married, I was 38 and Brooke had just turned 43. We were both single, and had both steered clear of marriage and large commitments, and there was this instant feeling, that this was going to be it, there would never be any other person for me. There was a matter of that readiness," he added

Before the stars had met, Brooke Adams had taken a leap of faith on her own. She adopted a young girl named Josie. Adams told the Huff Post Josie would end up playing a huge role in the couple working out.

"Josie was crazy about him. She was 11-months-old. She would come through the backstage door and start calling to him, "Nony, Nony, are you here?" Adams said

"She would pull herself up the stairs and find his dressing room and climb up onto his chair and plunk herself down in front of his mirror to be made up. And he would oblige. Any time Tony and I spent together outside of the play we spent with Josie. She was a good excuse and a good chaperone," she added

Shalhoub and Adams have had a lot on their plate over the years. Both working full-time for many years, they credit their relationship's success to teamwork.

"He does everything, he loves to clean, he loves to organize, he's detail-oriented, and he loves to fix things — he's a Mr. Fix-It on top of everything. Everybody tells me, "You're so lucky to have married this guy —" Adams boasted. Being in the limelight, Adams said she is still working; she just isn't focused on acting.

"Just recently I said to Tony, "I think I should decide I'm not going to act anymore." And he said, "Well, why don't you call up this agent who's interested in handling you and see what he thinks?" And I said, "That's exactly what I don't want to do! Call up some agent who might be willing to handle me?" So that was what convinced me I was right, and I feel good now I've done that. I'm a painter, and I love painting," she said

While Adams has stepped away, Shalhoub has been a starring actor in the Amazon Prime Series "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," which has been renewed for a fifth and final season in 2022.

The couple spent most of their working career living and raising their children in Los Angeles, California. Recently, the couple moved back to New York, where Adams is from. In an exclusive with Esquire in 2019, Shalhoub said the Big Apple is perfect for now.

"We raised our kids there, but now it just feels like New York is the place for us again. My wife happens to be from New York, so she's feeling like she's home, and right now I have to say I feel like more of a New Yorker," he said
