"Bohemian Rhapsody" is an absolute classic in the rock canon and needs no introduction. Written by Freddie Mercury over a period of years and released in 1975 by his band Queen, the song was a success at the time but has since grown in stature and is often considered by music critics to be one of the greatest rock songs of all time.
While he was writing it, Mercury probably had no idea that he would go on to inspire countless musicians to rise up to the challenge of singing "Bohemian Rhapsody" in new, exciting ways for decades to come. The song is so popular it's played frequently everywhere and is a favorite of amateur singers who want to try their luck at winning talent show contests.
But since the original is so amazing, it's no wonder that Simon Cowell is unimpressed when a person informs him that they plan to sing "Bohemian Rhapsody" on one of his talent competition shows. However, Spanish musician Cristina Ramos may have caused him to change his mind.
Despite being admittedly shy when she is not performing on stage, Ramos deservedly won the "Spain's Got Talent" contest in 2016. But it was during her 2019 appearance on "The Champions," an episode of television's "America's Got Talent," that she was challenged to impress an audience that had already expressed their allegiance to other performers.
Considering how much of a classic "Bohemian Rhapsody" is, Ramos' choice to sing it may have left some people wondering whether she made the right decision for her performance.

However, the beautiful singer soon proved that she was more than capable of delivering her own riveting rendition of the popular song made famous by Queen. As she began her performance, Ramos stood in front of the audience and judges wearing a long gown trimmed with feathers. But rather than perform a version just like Mercury's original one, Ramos had something different in store for the audience.
Usually, the song starts off as a ballad before moving into a dramatic section and finally a hard rock portion that brings high energy. But after introducing herself, Ramos began to sing "Bohemian Rhapsody" in the form of an operatic aria. Her voice hypnotized every person in the studio audience. But that wasn't all the singer had in store that day.
Without warning, she surprised everyone when the music suddenly became a rock and roll song, at which point Ramos took off her gown to reveal an alluring bodysuit underneath. The next section was high energy, to say the least — it included Ramos strutting all over the stage as she belted out the rock portion of the song in a way that would have made Mercury proud. She even began to sing again in the earlier operatic style while the rock and roll music played underneath. Overall, her performance was incredible and proved just why she was the winner of "Spain's Got Talent."
Ramos made the song her own as she transitioned from an opera singer to a rock star before anyone could blink their eyes. She was so successful because she did not try to mimic Queen's legendary lead singer, but instead, she simply sang the song with her own outstanding voice and did it in her own way.

After Ramos' performance earned her a standing ovation from the judges, Mel B yelled out, "That was brilliant!" Meanwhile, Howie Mandel stated that "it makes sense that [Ramos] is a champion" of the show. Simon Cowell called Ramos' voice "spectacular" before saying that it's "off the charts." He also added that the entire performance was "unbelievable."
What's more, Ramos told the judges just before her performance began that it was her first time in America and what a trip it proved to be! After wowing audiences, it now seems more than likely that she will make more trips in order to perform in the future.
Cowell's description of Ramos' voice was an accurate way to describe her amazing gift. It's just too bad that Mercury is not able to witness her rendition of the song, and who knows, he might have even asked her to sing a duet together if he had heard her. Ramos' rendition proves that no matter how many times you think you've heard a song, there is always an opportunity to show people something new.
Queen is one of the most iconic rock bands to ever exist and since the movie "Bohemian Rhapsody" came out in 2018, the legendary band and Mercury as its lead singer have gained a following of new fans around the world and renewed interest from those who already were familiar with them. As a result of the film, Queen's music rose to a high position on the music charts for the first time in nearly four decades.
