Mom Was Left Fuming After Finding Writing All Over Her Baby’s Body Done By Daycare Worker

Daycare centers, or nurseries, as they are called, are places that provide care and supervision for infants and children over a period of time. These centers have been particularly helpful for parents who hold full-time jobs or are occupied and unable to care for their kids during working hours. 

Besides being helpful to working parents, daycare centers are also beneficial in a child’s formative years. The child is able to learn as they grow and build interactive skills with other children of their age at these centers. Also, the fact that they have to be licensed by regulatory bodies ensures that daycare facilities are properly structured and standardized to meet certain requirements. 

But like everything that has its pros, daycare centers have their cons. Kids at daycare facilities are easily susceptible to illness; they can easily pick up negative traits from other kids at the center; and your child may not be able to fit into the strict schedule. Another uncommon drawback of sending your children to these facilities is the caregivers. Regardless of the fact that these centers do their best to employ qualified staff, some of them still fall below expectations. 

For the longest time, employing child caregivers at daycare centers has been a gamble. In this story from 2020, an underqualified daycare staff member left a young mom furious after they wrote on the body of her child. The stunned mother shared her displeasure over the situation in a rant on Facebook on Jan. 28, 2020, accompanied by a picture of her baby’s body. Read on to find out the details of how the mom reacted.

On Jan. 28, 2020, a distraught Sanibel, Florida mom Heather Chisum took to her Facebook page to share a picture of her son’s body riddled with writing from a daycare worker. The writing was scribbled with a marker across the child’s chest and belly. “Mom, I’m out of diapers. Pls read my report,” the writing read.

Chisum discovered the writing when she attempted to change her child’s diapers at the end of a long day. The mom of two was stunned and furious to see a note on her son’s body. In the post, Chisum explained that the daycare center sends a daily report of her son’s activities and recommendations for the day. But unfortunately, the mother of two missed the report of the previous day due to her hectic schedule. Regardless of this, Chisum revealed that a simple reminder from the teachers would have been enough. 

"Now keep in mind, I see several teachers at drop-off and several at pick-up,” she wrote. "If I failed to see that he needs diapers, a simple, ‘Hey Heather, your son needs diapers, maybe you missed the report’ would have done the trick from any of the many teachers there I see daily.” 

"But instead, I change his diaper this afternoon AND SEE THIS WRITTEN ON MY SON WITH MARKER,” Chisum added. 

The disgruntled mom revealed that she tried to scrub off the writing without success. Besides ruining her mood, the marker stains also put an end to the family’s beach visit that was scheduled for later that day. In a bid to rationalize the reason for their action, Chisum pointed out that they could have written the note on the child’s diaper rather than across his body. Chisum ended the post with a question, seeking to know if her reaction was justified.
