Keeping their kids safe is a major priority for any good parent. When children are small this responsibility can seem extremely challenging. That's why it's important to watch them like a hawk and always investigate when things seem just a little too quiet.
Even in homes with extremely attentive parents, children can sometimes get themselves into dangerous predicaments. That's exactly what happened to one mom. Her kids discovered a huge safety risk in a part of the house many parents would never dream could be unsafe.

Lindsey McIver's washing machine broke. Her thoughtful husband bought her a brand new front-loading washing machine at Lowe's. These machines have been all the rage lately, so Lindsey was initially quite pleased with her new state-of-the-art appliance. As good parents, she and her husband told the kids to stay away from the new washing machine. Though they agreed to leave the exciting new washer alone, the temptation to explore it proved to be too much for the curious young children.
The very next morning Lindsey awoke to a terrifying scenario. Their four-year-old son came into their bedroom sobbing in extreme distress. Her husband managed to understand bits and pieces of what he was trying to explain to his parents amidst his tears. He was trying to tell them that Kloe, his little sister, was trapped inside the new washing machine!
istockphotos.com/DaniloAndjusLindsey's husband reached the washing machine in a flash and Lindsey was close on his heels. The washer had proceeded to lock and was quickly becoming full of water! Though the toddler was crying out for help her screams were inaudible from outside the washing machine. If it weren't for her four-year-old brother realizing his sister was in danger and alerting his parents in time, Kloe could have been the victim of a horrific tragedy.
Fortunately for her, her parents intervened in time to save her from a terrible fate.
Though she was soggy, scared, and a bit banged up, the little girl wasn't seriously injured during her frightening ordeal. Her parents, however, were filled with terror at the crisis their daughter had so narrowly escaped.
They decided to look their new machine over more carefully. They found a child lock feature that they had previously overlooked. Though the lock would keep the machine from starting it didn't prevent the door from opening, so it wasn't a strong enough safety feature to make them feel comfortable. They purchased a child safety lock right onto the door to prevent little ones from opening it.
Though Lindsey knew she might receive backlash from judgmental parents, she felt that the story was too important not to share. She wanted to prevent other parents from having to go through the agony she and her husband and their children had just experienced. So she posted the story to social media, where it quickly went viral.
