Mom Shamed Online For Breastfeeding At The Beach Fights Back Through Social Media

Breastfeeding is an important part of a baby’s developmental years because not only does it give them the nutrients they need, but it also gives a bond between them and their mother.

According to the New York State’s Department of Health, breast milk for babies supplies all the proper and necessary nutrients. It also protects them from sickness and illnesses to ensure a healthy body.

Although breastfeeding is normal to most mothers around the world and it has been a common practice for ages, there are still people who consider it taboo, and there are also some who shame other mothers for doing what’s best for their baby in public.

There is no actual time for breastfeeding as the baby could be hungry at any hour of the day, specifically every 1.5 to 3 hours, this is exactly what happened to a mother that was shamed on social media, but most online users got her back when she decided to call out the original poster.

According to Bored Panda, a mom named Izabele Lomax spent time at the beach with her family, and there was one moment when her baby needed to breastfeed.

Later, she was shocked to find a video of herself being shamed by another online user.

As seen on the video Lomax shared on TikTok, the screenshot showed the original post wherein a person called her out for breastfeeding in public “with no respect to cover themselves up.”

The online user then added that she shouldn’t cover her sons’ eyes and explain why Lomax’s chest is out.

“Have some respect!” she added.

Izabele Lomax later took to her TikTok account to react to the post and called out the unidentified woman. In the reaction video, she told her followers that she woke up and found herself and her baby on a Facebook post.

"Not only did this woman walk past me multiple times with her son, you had every opportunity in the world to say something to me," Lomax explained. Instead, the woman took it to social media.

“What if you were told that the only way that you could eat at the beach is if you were covered up by a towel?” she said.

The mom revealed that the post had been taken down, and she expressed her gratitude to those who came to her defense.

“Next time you see a mom breastfeeding her child in public, covered up or not, tell her how good of a job she’s doing,” she added.

After Lomax shared the post, she received support from other moms and online users who encouraged her not to be embarrassed when breastfeeding in public.

“YES GIRL! Feed your baby any way you choose. You are doing AMAZING ❤️,” one wrote.

“From a fellow nursing mom! great job mama! and from someone with 3 boys (5, 3, and 1) they don't even bat an eye at a nursing mama because they know,” another one wrote.

Lomaz also noted to the outlet that she didn’t know the woman personally, and the reason why she saw the post was because someone had shared a screenshot of the post on a breastfeeding group on Facebook. Lomaz said she hoped that the experience would give the woman a lesson in life and for her to have a change of heart.

“You’ve inspired me to feed openly and publicly more often!” she added.
