Many people want to avoid being in debt. The idea of owing money is a heavy weight on the shoulders of some people, and they will do whatever they can in order to not buy something that they cannot pay cash for right away.
Whether it is a car loan, mortgage or student loans, there are some people who will do just about anything to avoid debt.
Tiny houses came on the scene about 10 years ago. There are even whole shows dedicated to them, just like the Great American Tiny House Show. At a time when minimalism is a movement, a small segment of the population decided to downsize or right size and build a tiny house for themselves. In general, most people consider a 'tiny house' to be one that is 400 square feet or smaller in size.

Charlotte Sapwell, an Australian mom of two, found herself facing an unaffordable mortgage payment after her divorce. According to Yahoo7, she needed to keep a roof over their heads but could not afford to stay in the family home.
Tiny house living was not anything she would have considered until she talked with her grandfather. He suggested the idea. She built the house herself with equipment owned by her grandpa. She built it on her grandfather's property.
The house she built has three rooms. Living was a bit rustic when they had to live on the site before water and electricity were connected to the tiny house. She did it all herself, including the framing, wiring, plumbing, and roofing. It all passed inspection and was certified for habitation.
The mom's sons were proud of her hard work. So was her grandpa. The community was also happy for her. She took matters into her own hands and created a solution to her problem. She proved to herself that she could do it well.
