Mom Of Newborn Twins Confesses Her Frustration Over Husband’s Regular Complaint Of Being ‘Tired’ From Work

Having children is often considered one of life's greatest blessings. And if a child is born to parents who have long dreamt of having children or have been trying for a while, the joy of such parents is especially multiplied. However, having and raising children is no mean feat. They can be very fretful at any time of the day, especially at night.
Most people who have had children will also agree that their fussiness typically increases when they are teething or going through changes in their bodies which can be a nightmare for their parents. This nightmare is usually aggravated when the babies are two or more.
To alleviate the pressure on parents, in many cultures, the mothers of either the bride or the groom will help out for the first three to six months of the baby's life. Some also hire night nannies or Doulas to provide emotional and physical support for the mother and her baby.
However, in several instances, some families can't afford either and don't have mothers-in-law who can stay with them until the baby is grown. In such cases, taking care of the baby takes a huge toll on the parents. It gets worse if the mother gets no support from the father. The distress that arises from this can lead to resentment and threaten the peace of the home if not addressed quickly.
A new mom of twins took to Reddit to share her grievances in January 2023. The mom said she was sick of hearing her husband say he was tired from work though he gets more than enough sleep at night. Keep reading to know more about the woman's complaints.
A new mom who just delivered twins felt frustrated and turned to Reddit in January 2023 for relief. According to the woman, her husband incessantly complains of fatigue from work. While she was initially ready to listen, she revealed she is sick of listening to him repeat the same thing constantly.
The OP laid bare her frustration in the subreddit for mothers named "Beyond The Bump." She headlined her rant, "I'm sick of hearing how tired my husband is," and proceeded to tell her story. The woman wrote:
"I get it, he works and it sucks. But the sleep he gets each night (8 hours), I'm lucky to get in 3 days. We have 4 month old twins (2 months corrected) and I'm drowning but I have to prop my husband up as well."
The demoralized mom then threw in what she thought would solve her problem.
"In my next life, I'm coming back as a man," she confessed.
OP was surprised when her post blew up and went back to add updates to her situation after seeing the numbers her post did.
"Edit: Wow, I really didn't expect to get this much attention on this post, but I really appreciate the encouragement from everyone. I spoke with my family today who agreed the current setup isn't working and have encouraged me to change it for my own sanity. Hopefully I'll get a full night's rest soon!" she wrote under the original post.
The new mom again added another update on the community. She revealed:
"Double edit: we discovered one of our twins is teething and is super cranky so I'll for sure be getting my husband to help more!"

Several Redditors tried to comfort the woman and shared their stories.
"My husband was comforting me with a hug and I let myself lean into it and it felt so good. He then said "I'm tired too". Ruined the moment as I am in a similar situation with only 1 baby. I hope you can get him to help more. Good luck my dear, you're doing a wonderful job," someone shared.
A second Redditor wrote:
"I just gave the baby to my husband one night and went to sleep. Just basic information on what the baby might need. No explanation needed. Men are weird they just step up if there's no alternative."
A user bashed the husband, claiming he wasn't a great parent.
"Why do you let your partner treat you like that? You should do sleep shifts. He isn't parenting if he sleeps through the night each night," they wrote.
Some Redditors advised the woman to communicate with her husband.
"I get that you're ranting, but have you communicated how you feel? We both complain about how tired we are at the end of the day, but while baby is awake we try not to say things like this to each other. I sometimes have to say to him 'I understand, but I can't give sympathy right now'."
"8 hours?? Can he not take shifts? If you're drowning, something's gotta change. Don't wait until you're resentful. Speaking from experience," another user advised.
Meanwhile, another user was sure it wasn't a gender problem.
