Miranda Lambert’s Risqué Dress Provokes Outrage Among Fans Who Urged Her To ‘Cover Up More’

Miranda Lambert is one of contemporary country music’s biggest stars, and she looked every inch the part on one of the industry’s biggest nights of the year. At the People's Choice Country Awards on Sept. 26, 2024, she walked the red carpet alongside her husband, Brendan McLoughlin, and quite rightly turned many heads. 

Her show-stopping look consisted of a fully sequined, ankle-length brown dress with long sleeves. However, it was the dress’ plunging neckline, bolstered by some sharp shoulders, that truly stole the show. Lambert paired the look with a statement turquoise necklace. To emphasize the style and keep the focus on her outfit, Lambert kept her hair simple, wearing it in soft waves, while her makeup was minimal, save for her exceptional smoky eyes. She finished the outfit with a glittery gold clutch and heels that matched her dress, looking nothing short of stunning as she smiled for the cameras. 

Later that night, Lambert won the People’s Choice Country Icon Award. 

“Thank you so much. It’s so weird for me to stand up here and hold an icon award. I mean, to me, an icon is who I grew up listening to with my daddy play,” she said in her acceptance speech, adding, “I feel like I've been able to make so many great memories in my life and in my career because of fans.”

Lambert also performed at the ceremony, stirring up the audience with a medley of her songs, “Kerosene” and “Dammit Randy.” For the performance, Lambert changed into a fierce leather outfit, complete with a leather cowboy hat. While the outfit matched the singer's seemingly boundless energy, Lambert’s red carpet look prompted mixed opinions from the public.

Lambert’s red carpet dress impressed many fans, who couldn’t get enough of her dazzling look, calling it “Gorgeous 🔥🔥” 

“One of my new fav looks,” one user wrote, while another called her “An icon and a bombshell.”

Others gushed about how amazing Lambert and her husband looked together.

“They set the PCCAs on 🔥🔥,” one fan remarked, while another echoed the sentiment by saying, “So beautiful!!! We 💓’em!!!”

However, not everyone was as receptive to Lambert’s choice of dress.

“She needs to cover up more!!” one user commented, while another said, “If she is a queen why she need to dress like that 😂”

“I absolutely hate it when they feel that they have to let their chest hang out!” a user said, while another concurred, stating, “Why does she always have to bare her chest? Always!”

Some expressed their opinions that they didn’t find the look very “classy” and felt it was not age-appropriate for the country music star, who turned 40 in 2023.

The strong reactions also prompted many fans to defend Lambert. 

“Simmer down. She doesn’t have to cover anything. It’s her body,” one comment read, while another stated, “Haters will always hate great performer support has shows to help dogs favorite. The ones saying nasty things should focus on their life deserves all the awards she ever got and will get 👍”

The criticism is unlikely to rock Lambert’s confidence. She once said that she doesn’t put too much emphasis on what others say about her or her style choices.

“As I've gotten older and more into the industry, I've kind of relaxed in that,” she said, adding that she had “started to enjoy the process of maybe pushing some boundaries,” she said.
