Mike And Zara Tindall's Adorable PDA Moments As They Celebrate Tenth Wedding Anniversary
Jul 30, 2021 by apost team
Zara Tindall, Queen Elizabeth II’s eldest granddaughter, celebrates her 10th wedding anniversary with former rugby player Mike Tindall on Friday.
According to Brides, Zara and Mike first met in a bar in Australia back in 2003 while watching the Rugby World Cup, which is fitting given Mike’s former career as a player for Bath and Gloucester. At that time, Zara was enjoying life in Australia while taking a gap year, and Mike happened to be in the bar since his coach had dropped him from the semi-final match. And so Mike, by a stroke of luck, was in the same bar at the same time as Zara. Luckily, Zara made sure to leave her number with one of Mike’s friends, who later delivered the number to the rugby player.
Around five months later, Mike and Zara were official, and the athlete even met Zara’s parents — Mark Philips and Anne, Princess Royal. Fast forward about four years, and Mike and Zara had moved in together to a place in Cheltenham. That seems to have been the right decision because the couple quickly got engaged in 2010 after more than five years of dating.
While their 2011 wedding was private, it was still a festive affair at Canongate Kirk on Edinburgh's Royal Mile in Scotland thanks to a 400-person guest list. Another set of more recent developments for Zara and Mike is the births of their children: Mia Grace Tindall in 2014, Lena Elizabeth in 2018 and Lucas Philip Tindall in 2021. With an Olympian as a mom and a rugby player as a dad, it’s safe to say that these kids will have some athletic genes!
Although these two lovebirds tend to stay relatively private and under-the-radar by royal standards, there are plenty of adorable photos of Zara, Mike and their children in public. To celebrate their 10th anniversary alongside Zara and Mike, we’ll take a look at their most adorable snapshots.
Zara And Mike’s Wedding Day
Is there a better way to start off than with a heartwarming photo from Zara and Mike’s wedding in Edinburgh, Scotland? According to the BBC, many of the wedding guests were likely from the rugby and equestrian worlds, as Mike is a former professional rugby player and as Zara is a former Olympic equestrian.
"Zara Phillips is not technically a member of the royal family — she just happens to have a mother who is," royal historian Hugo Vickers told BBC ahead of the ceremony.
"The whole set-up is much more informal, it's very much a family thing. I wouldn't say he is marrying into the royal family, rather she is marrying out of the royal family,” he added.
The BBC also notes that at the time Zara and Mike’s wedding was often seen as “the other” royal wedding, as Kate Middleton and Prince William famously married in a massive ceremony at Westminster Abbey just a few months prior to Zara and Mike’s big day.
But as this photo shows, this happy couple — both with beaming smiles — doesn’t appear to be worried about being overshadowed by Kate and William. In the photo, Zara wears an “full-skirted silk faille and duchess satin gown with a chevron pleated corseted bodice,” according to GloucestershireLive. The elegant dress came from The White Room in Minchinhampton, which sells designer wedding gowns.

Zara And Mike On The Green
If Zara’s dress was notable in the last photo, then Mike captures this sweet snapshot with his loud, purple unicorn pants. Mike, sporting his Royal & Awesome brand “Stallion Strides Trousers,” holds his wife close at the Celebrity Golf Classic at The Belfry on May 17, 2019 in Sutton Coldfield, England. According to Cure Parkinson’s, Mike hosted and attended the event in aid of The Cure Parkinson’s Trust and the Matt Hampson Foundation. “We are very grateful to Mike and Zara Tindall and all their guests, for generously supporting this wonderful day of golf and entertainment again in aid of Cure Parkinson’s,” the foundation wrote on their website.
Zara And Mike At Wimbledon
In this cute photo from July 2019, Zara cuddled up next to Mike while watching tennis at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships in London. Given that both Mike and Zara are former professional athletes — and successful ones at that — it’s no surprise that they seem to enjoy spending time together while watching sports. Again in 2021, the couple was spotted at Wimbledon looking as romantic as ever, color-coordinating their outfits and laughing at each others’ jokes.
Mike recently opened up to the press regarding the couple’s successful relationship, which has endured 10 years of marriage as of today.
"A lot can change over 10 years,” Mike explained. “I think the fact that she’s always been my best friend has been the key.”
"At the end of the day we can sit down and laugh at each other and have a good time. It’s been an amazing 10 years."
