Michael Jackson’s Youngest Son Most Remembered For Balcony Controversy Looks Mature Sporting Facial Hair On Day Out

Michael Jackson is known the world over for his music and entertainment legacy — he wasn't named the "King of Pop" for nothing. His long career full of hit songs, show-stopping performances, and celebrity collaborations has made him a household name. 

The artist's personal life sparked interest with the public, including his marriage to Elvis Presley’s daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, but for the most part, he was an intensely private person who kept his work and personal life separate. That extended to his other relationships and the children that he had. 

Notably something that many people weren't aware of is that Michael fathered three children. They are a son named Michael Joseph "Prince" Jackson Jr., a daughter named Paris Jackson, and another son named Prince Michael "Blanket" Jackson II. For most of their lives, the Jackson children were kept out of the spotlight, except for the rare occasion when they joined their father publicly. They were thrust into the spotlight for a brief moment upon their father's death before retreating away again.

In recent years, Paris has begun a career in the entertainment industry, which has, in turn, shed some light on the Jackson children. Prince has also made some public appearances now and again. 

However, the youngest child, Prince Michael II, who went by the nickname Blanket for much of his youth, has grown up away from the public eye. Now in his 20s, he was spotted out and about, and the photos have left many thrilled by how mature the young man is. He is truly moving into adulthood, as he bought his own multimillion-dollar home and has even eschewed his former nickname for a name he now prefers to go by, Bigi. 

The three children appeared in public at their father's funeral in 2009, with Prince, then aged 12, Paris, then 11, and Bigi, then just 7 years old at the time of Michael's death. The following year in 2010, the two elder Jackson children accepted a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award for their dad at the Grammy Awards. For the most part, all three spent the next years staying out of the public eye. 

But as Michael's children have begun to grow up into young adults, it seems they're choosing to follow in their father's footsteps in some ways. Paris was the first to begin her career in the spotlight, working as a model, actress and singer. She's been very vocal in recent years about how she struggled as a teenager in the wake of her father's death but is in a much better place now. 

Prince has also appeared in a public capacity on numerous occasions, telling the Los Angeles Times "music is a big part of (his) life." He added, "It shaped who I am because of my family, but I've always wanted to go into production.” 

Following Michael's death, Bigi was raised by his grandmother, Katherine Jackson, who had become his legal guardian, as well as Prince’s and Paris' too. The youngster made headlines when Radar Online announced in 2015 that Blanket had changed his name to Bigi, following years of bullying he had undergone due to his original nickname. 

Paris found success in the entertainment industry, signing a contract with IMG Models in March 2017 and debuted in a guest-starring role on the show "Star" around the same time. Paris made her film debut in 2018 with a role in "Gringo." She said she felt “very lucky and blessed” for her career.

On Aug. 29, 2023, Michael would have turned 65 years old. His children did not forget what could have been a momentous year for their late father. That is why on Sept. 1, 2023, they, along with other relatives, marked the occasion. 

A photo was posted on The Jacksons Facebook and Instagram page, which featured a rare joint appearance from both Bigi and Prince. The two sons of Michael celebrated their father’s Blue Sapphire celebration. 

Fans were clearly elated to see Bigi and Prince together in such a rare outing, but it seemed like some of them were stunned to see how tall Bigi had become!

“Is that Michael Jackson?….Nope sorry that’s just Blanket look amazing. The resemblance is bone chilling 🤍,” another commented. 

“Blankets clearly got his dads genes 🧬,” someone gushed. 

For reference, Michael stood at 1.75 meters or 5 foot 7 inches in height, but based on Bigi’s stature in the photo, he might have grown taller than his father at this point. 

“WOW 😲😳! Such a beautiful picture and look how tall Blanket has gotten!” another user pointed out. 

“I cannot believe how big the boys have gotten already!” someone said. 

Meanwhile, Paris was seemingly missing from the rare photo. Apparently, Paris was on tour in the United States at the time and missed the event, but that doesn’t mean she has forgotten about him. In fact, she posted a video, as mentioned by Hello Magazine. The video, however, has since been removed. 

"Today’s my dad’s birthday, and he used to despise anybody even acknowledging it, wishing him a happy birthday, or any sort of celebration," Paris revealed. "He actually didn’t want us to even know when his birthday was because he didn’t want us to throw a party."

Bigi turned 21 on Feb. 21, 2023. He is perhaps best known for being the baby his father dangled over the edge of a hotel balcony railing in Berlin in 2002. Bigi was only nine months old when his father dangled him precariously with one arm with his face covered by a cloth, to show him to fans and the media gathered below.

The incident caused an immediate and global media frenzy. Many were horrified by Michael's actions, viewing them as reckless and endangering the child. Following the backlash, Michael issued a statement saying he had made a "terrible mistake." Despite the public outcry, no legal actions were taken against him.

Since then, Bigi has maintained the most private profile among the three Jackson children. However, he did give a rare in-person interview to Good Morning Britain in November 2021, to highlight the growing climate change emergency. He explained:

"I do think it's important we all know about it. We have some work to do but our generation knows how important it is." 

In November 2023, he was also spotted out and about in Los Angeles, sporting long hair, a mustache and a beard. Bigi was seen in casual clothing entering a Barnes & Noble bookstore in Calabasas and walking out with a large paper bag filled with items. Fans would be forgiven for not recognizing the son of one of the world’s most famous performers due to his now very grown-up look.

“Fancy him being grown up,” one user commented, while another said, “He is a handsome gentleman.” 

Bigi’s last public appearance before the bookstore outing was during the Annual THRILLER NIGHT Halloween Party, hosted by his brother at the Jackson family home on Oct. 28, 2022. He had also sported a mustache and beard then, while his hair could not be seen as he was wearing a hoodie.
