Michael Douglas & Catherine Zeta-Jones’ Dashing Son Dylan Is The Spitting Image Of His Father As He Turns 24

Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas continue to have one of the longest-lasting marriages in Hollywood, given that they have been together for more than two decades. Although they have a significant age gap of 25 years, Zeta-Jones and Michael have shown that age is nothing but a number between two adults who choose to love and cherish each other for life.

Beyond sharing their lives together since tying the knot in 2000, the couple also shares a birthday on September 25. While Michael turned 79 in 2023, Zeta-Jones turned 54. The two are supportive of each other despite being at different points in their lives. Just like every couple, Zeta-Jones and Michael have had a number of hardships and times when their relationship was not exactly rosy. Michael and Zeta-Jones welcomed their first child, Dylan, on Aug. 8, 2000; in 2024, he turned 24. On Sept. 25, 1944, Michael was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, to Hollywood actors Diana and Kirk Douglas. His parents divorced when he was 6 years old, and Michael only saw his father during holidays.

As a child, Michael went to the Eaglebrook School in Deerfield, Massachusetts, and later attended the Choate School, an elite private academy. Michael developed an interest in show business at a very young age. He spent a lot of time with his father, Kirk, on film sets over the summers, and even as a teenager, he decided to follow in his father's footsteps and become an actor. Michael requested that his dad find him some suitable acting roles.

Although Kirk didn't want either of his sons to get entangled in the baffling world of the film industry, Michael's ambition made him unstoppable. He nurtured his love for acting, finally getting his breakthrough role in the 1969 CBS Playhouse special, “The Experiment.”

On Sept. 25, 1969, Catherine Zeta-Jones was born in Swansea, South Wales, to David James Jones and Patricia Fair. Zeta-Jones's inclination to art expressed itself when she participated in school stage performances, eventually gaining local media attention for winning a Junior Star Trail talent competition with her rendition of a Shirley Bassey song.

Throughout her teenage years, Zeta-Jones nurtured her love for the arts by participating in competitions, attending auditions, and playing lead roles in stage plays. In 1990, she made her film debut in the French-Italian fantasy film “1001 Nights.” She went on to star in several TV series, including “The Darling Buds of May,” which earned her wide popularity in Britain.

Despite enjoying great success in their careers, Michael and Zeta-Jones’ biggest joy is their kids, Dylan and Carys. The longtime couple has often shown their affection for their children. 

The pair teamed up on Aug. 8, 2023, to celebrate their son Dylan's 23rd birthday. The Hollywood couple took to their Instagram pages to pay tribute to their son. In Michael’s post, he shared a photo of the celebrant with a caption sharing his best wishes.

“Happy birthday Dylan! May YOUR new year, bring you joy, imagination, and love! Your biggest fan, Dad,” Michael wrote in the caption. 

Zeta-Jones took to the comment section to celebrate her son.  

“Happy birthday my boy❤️,” she commented.

On her page, the “Entrapment” actress shared a throwback picture of herself carrying a newborn Dylan. Her caption relayed her love and appreciation for Dylan.

“23 years ago today, my boy @dylan__douglas was born. He is the gift that keeps on giving, over and over and over and over again. I love you my love♥️,” she wrote in the caption.

Apart from Dylan, Michael and Zeta-Jones’ youngest daughter, Carys, also celebrated an important milestone – she graduated high school and is now in college. Douglas talked about being “empty nesters” to Today in 2021. 

"It's scary. You know, it really is. You look at each other and go, 'Well, it's just you and me babe.'” Michael told the show before talking about having precious time with his dear wife. "We're 20 years now, so all those good years of paying attention to each other are paying off now,"

In a Telegraph interview, Zeta-Jones played lightly on the big move in their lives. She said: “We were very hands-on as parents and we still are, 
although we are empty nesters now. Or as I preferred to think of it before lockdown, free birds.”

As Dylan turned 24 in 2024, the resemblance between him and his father is growing by the year! Fans couldn’t help but notice the spitting similarities in a new photo that Michael shared on his Instagram account. 

“Wow @dylan__douglas! 24! You’re moving fast my son! Wishing you a very happy birthday from a proud Father!” Michael captioned his post featuring a dashing portrait of his son. 

Fans were in awe of the similarities between the actor and his son. 

“He looks just like you 😍,” a user commented. 

“Happy birthday, Dylan. Your father and grandfather are 2 of my favorite actors. I'm sure you will light the world on fire with your looks and their genes,” another greeted.

Zeta-Jones also wished Dylan a happy birthday by posting a never-before-seen video of her playing with her son as she changed his clothes as a baby. 

“Happy 24th Birthday to my son @dylan__douglas The joy and love you give me every day is insurmountable. To be your Mama is a gift that I never take for granted. I love you my beautiful boy. ♥️,” the actress wrote in the caption. 

Many were touched and moved by Zeta-Jones’ dedication to her son, especially because she also used the song “Beautiful Boy” by John Lennon in the video. 

“Awww what truly beautiful words. 😍 Inspirational ❤️ Happy birthday to Dylan 🎂🍾,” a fan greeted. 

“Oh my goodness! 24, where have those years gone?! Still, plenty of glorious memories! May you have a fantastic day 😍,” another said.
