Meet Dick Van Dyke’s Handsome Grandson Shane Who Is All Grown-up and Following In His Grandfather’s Footsteps

Dick Van Dyke is a well-known man in the entertainment industry as he has a litany of wondrous talents that he’s been sharing with the world since the late 1940s. As an actor, comedian, writer, singer and dancer, this award-winning entertainer has been unstoppable with paving the way for not only himself but up-and-coming rising stars. With a career spanning seven decades, it’s no surprise that Dick has won a handful of awards and has made a positive impact on others in the industry, his fans at home and even his own family.

With memorable films like “Bye Bye Birdie,” “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” and “Mary Poppins” under his belt, Dick has become an icon in his field of work and has left many fans and critics happy and smiling with all of his great work. Talent must be in the genes since many of Dick’s own family members have proven to be just as incredible as him in the world of film and television.

Dick has won more than just awards in his life, and he is also incredibly lucky to have such a beautiful, happy family. He has four children and seven grandchildren, and one of his grandchildren has begun making a name for himself in the film and television industries. With a role model like Dick, it’s no surprise that Shane Van Dyke has already started following in his grandfather’s footsteps. Shane has since grown up to be incredibly handsome and talented and is a shining prodigy of his star-studded family.

Life As An Icon

Born Dec. 13, 1925, Dick began his career early on and performed on the Broadway stage, as well as working as an entertainer on radio and television programs. He starred in “Bye Bye Birdie” in 1961, earning himself the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical. His performance was so great that he even revised his part in the movie adaptation of the musical, and also starred in movies such as “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” and “Mary Poppins.”

Dick was easily loved by fans and critics alike, and has starred in a litany of projects over the many years of his career. Some of his more recent movies include “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb” in 2014, “Mary Poppins Returns” in 2018 and a few appearances in 2020 on the television series “Kidding.”

Most notably, the star had his own shows called “The Dick Van Dyke Show” and “The New Dick Van Dyke Show.” The first sitcom aired from 1961 until 1966, and the revamped version aired from 1971 until 1974. The series was highly received and loved by many, and really showed off a lot of Dick’s personal talents. 

With so much to offer to the mainstream media and multiple entertainment projects, Dick has won a long list of awards and accolades over the span of his career. He is the recipient of five Primetime Emmy Awards, one Grammy Award and has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. A true icon, he was also inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 1995 and received the SAG Life Achievement Award in 2013. To top it off, he is a certified Disney Legend.

Meet The Handsome Grandson

Shane, Dick’s famous grandson, has grown up to be just like his grandfather. As an actor, film director and screenwriter, Shane has already made his mark on the film and television industries. Shane was born on Aug. 28, 1979, in Los Angeles, California, to an already famous family. Not only is his father a shining star in the entertainment industry, but his father, Barry Van Dyke, is also an actor.

His career started just shortly after he graduated from high school when he got involved with the theatre program at Moorpark College. Some of his early work included starring in the musical “Annie” and having a recurring role alongside his grandfather in the CBS television series “Diagnosis: Murder.” Moving forward, Shane went on to work on “The Bold at the Beautiful,” and even rejoined Dick to work together in a series of movies titled “Murder 101.”

This is not the only time Shane has worked with a family member, as he also produced the horror film “Chernobyl Diaries” alongside his brother Carey Van Dyke. A few of his other accomplishments that have shown off his wide array of talents include being a screenwriter for “The Day the Earth Stopped” and “The Silence,” and directing the 2010 movie “Titanic II.”

As of recently, Shane has a crime horror movie in the works called “Don’t Worry Darling,” for which he worked as a writer and producer. With such a famous family to live up to, Shane has also proven that he’s a force to be reckoned with, and is well on his way to becoming just as amazing as his iconic grandfather.
