At a very young age, Chastity, Cher’s then-daughter, believed she was a lesbian. However, she later discovered it was a little more complicated than that. After realizing she wanted to live as a man, and transitioning from female to male in 2010, Cher and Sonny's child has now found happiness and has a thriving career.

Cher and Sonny Bono had one child, Chaz Bono, who is now 50. He was once a celebrity kid who has been famous for decades. He surprised many of his fans as Gary K. Longstreet, a pro-Trump character on “American Horror Story: Cult.”This was his first time headlining but he is more than used to being in the spotlight.

Chaz was born on March 4, 1969 as Chastity Sun Bono. He had originally come out as a lesbian due to tabloid press interference at the age of 18. It wasn’t until he was 40 that he started transitioning into a man. In 2010, he legally changed his name and gender to match, as reported by CBS News.

In 1998, he wrote a book called, “Family Outing: A Guide to the Coming Out Process for Gays, Lesbians, and Their Families.” In it, he admitted his mom, Cher, “went ballistic” when he first came out.

In his book, he stated he had always felt like there was something different about him. He would look at other girls in his class and feel confused as to why they were so obsessed with fashion or the boys in class. He wrote, “When I was 13, I finally found a name for exactly how I was different. I realized I was gay."

Chaz documented his experience in “Becoming Chaz.” The documentary was screened at the Sundance Film Festival in 2011. It was later televised on the Oprah Winfrey Network.Cher came to embrace and accept Chaz’s sexual orientation. She even became a very outspoken activist for the LGBTQ community after that.

Chaz’s first acting gig was in the 1970s when he starred as Chastity on his parent’s show, “Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour.” Chaz is a major LGBTQ advocate and is one of the very first stars to be transgender in Hollywood. In 2011, he even made history by being the first trangender star to compete on “Dancing with the Stars.”
