Marie Osmond’s Late Son’s Death Certificate Revealed He Cut His Father Out Of His Life

Marie Osmond was born Olive Marie Osmond on October 13, 1959. The “Paper Roses” singer has had an illustrious career but also a very fulfilling personal life. Marie has also had an interesting love life, having married three times – twice to the same man.

The musician, actress, and philanthropist has a total of eight children and eight grandchildren as of December 2023. Her children are Stephen, Jessica, Rachael, Brandon, Brianna, Matthew, Abigail, and Michael. 

Her grandchildren are Stephen Jr., Rocket Jade, Christian, Maxwell, Maude, Wolf, Olive, and Mabel. Marie’s son Stephen and his wife Claire welcomed their fourth child to the world in 2021.

Marie has continued visiting and keeping tabs on her children and their youngsters over the years. She also uses her phone to keep in touch with her siblings, kids, and grandkids. And luckily for those of us interested in the star’s life, Marie proudly displays her affection for her adorable grandchildren on social media.

Being a part of a large family is nothing new for Marie. She grew up with all brothers, the eighth of nine children. And show business has remained a constant, as the clan sang and danced together publicly even at young ages. Marie and her brother, Donny Osmond, would eventually co-host the variety show “Donny and Marie.” In 2007, she showed off her dancing skills as a celebrity contestant on “Dancing with the Stars,” where she placed third alongside her dance partner, Jonathan Roberts.

Unfortunately, one of her children, Michael Blosil, passed away in 2010, and it was later revealed that he had an issue with his father, Brian Blosil. Read on below to find out more about the incident.

Marie Osmond was previously married to her ex-husband Brian Blosil, for over 21 years. However, despite them having lovely children together, she revealed in a previous interview that she wasn’t happy throughout her two-decade marriage.

According to an article published by Closer Weekly, Marie and Brian tied the knot in 1986 and went on to have seven children together. She only realized that she wasn’t happy and the marriage was falling apart when her home caught on fire in 2005.

In 2020, the actress appeared on Winn Claybaugh’s “Masters Podcast Club” where she gave an insight into her relationship with her former lover, as she explained, “It was probably one of the most freeing things that ever happened to me… Because I realized this home I had created was a facade to a marriage that wasn’t happy for 20 years. I really believe it was God — they say, ‘The burning within.’ So sometimes these things happen to wake us up.”

After the fire incident happened, the pair decided to separate for good. She later remarried to her first husband, Steven Craig.

Unfortunately, one of Marie and Brian’s children, Michael, committed suicide at the age of 18. According to an article published by ABC News in 2010, the young boy jumped to his death from the roof of his apartment complex located in Los Angeles, California.

Prior to his passing, he reportedly had problems with substance abuse and depression after Marie and Brian legally separated in 2007.

In an episode of “The Talk,” Marie got candid and opened up for the first time that her son was bullied prior to his death, which she believed to have contributed to his decision.

“I have never spoken about this before… my son who died, he was bullied,” she said.

In 2019, Marie spoke to “CBS Sunday Morning,” as reported by People Magazine, to look back at the death of her beloved son.

“You know, I don’t think you’re ever through it… I think God gives you respites, and then all of a sudden it’ll hit you like the day it did. The ripple effect is so huge, what you leave behind,” she said. 

This was not the first time the actress spoke about her son, as she also told Oprah Winfrey in a previous interview, “When I heard him say to me, I have no friends, it brought back when I went through depression, because you really feel so alone.”

Marie clarified that although she was not a depressed person, she understood where Michael was coming from, and she remembered telling him to wait for her and it was going to be okay, but the depression didn’t wait any time.

In an article published by People Magazine in 2010, it was revealed that Michael spent some time in rehab for substance abuse.

It was later noted that Michael legally changed his last name from Blosil to Bryan, and the outlet noted that the father and son had not spoken to each other for months prior to Michael's tragic passing. Since he made the legal move, his new last name was the one indicated on his death certificate.
