Man’s Wife Says She Didn’t Cheat But He Finds Out His Daughter Isn’t Biologically His

A woman shared her story on Reddit in 2022 and asked for advice from the community. The 29-year-old shared that she married her college sweetheart and had never cheated on him since they got together. However, her husband decided to take a paternity test some months before for their 5-year-old daughter and got a negative result.
Afterward, he became cold and withdrawn and constantly demanded to see her phone, although he didn’t tell her what was wrong. When the original poster (OP) insisted on knowing what happened, he opened up about the test.
“He accused me this morning, saying he’d done the test after realizing that our daughter’s eyes (brown) wouldn’t naturally come from ours (both blue) and that he wanted me to get out of the house,” OP shared.
The woman moved to their daughter’s bedroom instead and asked how to prove she didn’t cheat. OP later shared that she talked with her husband and tried to convince him of her innocence. She also asked to do some tests, but her husband wasn’t convinced. However, she didn’t give up.
“We’re going to have a longer conversation tomorrow and he said that he still loves our daughter, and he won’t try to keep me out of the house or our room for now,” the woman disclosed. “I asked him to hug me and he did. I’m scared that I won’t be able to convince him. I just want our family to go back to normal,” she added.
Her husband later apologized and promised not to send her packing. He also agreed to let her prove her innocence with the tests but vowed to deal with her if she lied. However, the blood paternity test for the family proved that they weren’t the biological parents.
OP and her husband filed a report and sued the hospital, but that was the beginning of their woes. The woman was left to wonder where her biological daughter was.
“I just wish he’d never taken that stupid test,” OP wrote. “I’ve been sleeping in my daughter’s room, and I’m so afraid that she’s going to be taken away from me, but at the same time I want to know where my biological daughter is, and if she’s okay.”
OP and her husband also decided not to tell their daughter and to shield her from the negative publicity. She also asked for suggestions on what to do in case they found their daughter’s biological parents and even suggested that they live together.
Meanwhile, OP’s husband shared his side of the story in response to the criticism he received about why he did the test in the first place. He revealed that he had always felt his wife was too good for him, so when the pandemic hit, and he let himself go during the stay-at-home orders while his wife stayed fit and beautiful, he became depressed.
OP’s husband also disclosed that some posts he read online made him conclude that his wife was cheating on him, although he found no evidence. He took the tests, and his worst fear was realized.
“I didn’t want to believe it, but yeah, I pulled back. I felt betrayed. I wanted to be a good husband but I couldn’t shake this,” he wrote … “I was scared, and angry, and I wanted the truth.”
He admitted that he didn’t think that their daughter could have been switched but that he also tried to keep his cool, although he thought his wife was lying.

Many Redditors empathized with the family.
“That is devastating in such an awful, awful way. These poor people,” someone commented.
However, several Redditors thought the story was made up following an update. OP planned to keep both girls, and everything happened within a month.
OP had revealed that they found their biological daughter living in foster care as her former parents had been investigated, and a DNA test showed that she wasn’t their child. OP also disclosed that she and her husband had started the adoption process and received some money from the hospital.
“I wouldn’t say the settlement money makes up for what we went through, exactly, but it’s close to two million. Our lawyer said we could have gotten more in court, but honestly, the hospital wanted to end this fast and quietly, and so did we,” she divulged.
Redditors were not impressed with the story after the update and quickly called it out.
“I was rooting for you…we were all rooting for you! This update is an insult to our intelligence,” someone commented.
“This is just one of the many reasons this is unbelievable. No way all the lawyers, judges, police/investigators, social workers, the hospitals insurance company, etc would move on without questioning and DNA testing every single person involved.
‘We have this kid, it’s not their kid, it might be these people’s kid but we don’t really know for sure... should we do anything about it? Nah it’s all good’” someone wrote.
A third Redditor opined, “I’m sorry, but this story sounds incredibly fake. Everything just happened to work out in the span of a month? Finding your daughter, getting DNA figured out, settling with the hospital, getting visitation rights and custody, while no one is going after your non-bio daughter? Seems extremely fishy..”
