It's always difficult to stand up to your fears—this is why public speaking can be such a stressful thing for people even when they're reading off of a paper, as it's often incredibly hard to speak coherently in front of others. Singing in front of others is more difficult, especially because you have to express yourself in the process.

Many people find karaoke intimidating for this very reason. Having to get up in front of an entire crowd of people and sing your heart out isn't something that just requires musical skill, but it requires bravery. This is why when Andy Streich got on stage on a Royal Caribbean cruise, people didn't know what to expect.

It is so common for people to present lackluster performances during cruise ship karaoke that a mind-blowing performance just didn't seem possible.

Andy Streich seemed like just another dad on a cruise ship who seemed to have drunk that night and wanted to sing some karaoke, but something was different about him. Once he got on stage and was making Forrest Gump references, it became clear that this was not going to be your average cruise ship karaoke performance, but something more unique.

A native of Washington State, Andy seemed very unassuming, almost like he had something to hide from the audience.

Given this context, you can imagine the confusion the audience went through when they realized that Andy was not only a great singer, but that he sounds exactly like the singer from Journey! When he gets up there to sing Journey's "Anyway You Want It" (a fitting choice), it feels like the recording itself is playing!

This is especially impressive given how much it takes to sing this song. Journey's songs typically push singers off the deep-end, requiring them to sing very high notes for very long periods of time. This is why many people don't sing these songs in the original octave, as it's very hard to match the vocal intensity and range of the original lead singer Steve Perry.

Once the song begins, though, there is almost a spark in Andy's eyes that grabs hold of the music and doesn't let go. From this point forward, Andy takes the crowd on a true journey (no pun intended!), singing through the entire song with incredible confidence and a fiery personality.

Not only this, but he also gives off an incredibly strong, consistent vibrato throughout that sounds like the voice of a truly professional singer.
