Man Washes Up Ashore After Trying To ‘Bubble’ Run From Florida To Bermuda
Aug 06, 2021 by apost team
People will, at times, do some wild things in the name of earning money for charity. Reza Baluchi is a marathon runner with one very specific goal: to run across the ocean on a journey of more than 1,000 miles in a bubble-like vessel; from Florida to Bermuda. He says he has raised a lot of money for the homeless and other worthy causes.
In July 2021, Baluchi was found in his vessel on a beach in Flagler County, Florida. The sheriff's department reported that he was uninjured and safe at the time the vessel was spotted. This attempt to reach his goal was just one of many journeys Baluchi has taken over the years. In 2014, he was rescued from his vessel near St. Augustine.
Back in 2016, Baluchi had to be retrieved off the coast of Jupiter. Now in 2021, he is still trying to make his dream come true, despite another failed attempt. The vessel is made of metal and buoyant plastic and was created to rotate and carry Baluchi across the water as he runs.
Originally, the US Coast Guard warned Baluchi that his expedition would be in violation of regulations, and he could possibly end up in prison for up to seven years or have to face a $40,000 fine.
It seemed that this deterred Baluchi for a while, but he has already begun planning his next voyage. The Coast Guard captain said that no amount of common sense could change the man's mind about reaching his goal. Keep reading to hear more about this incredible journey.

Some may call his expeditions foolish, but Baluchi sees them as inspiring. "I will show people that anything you want to do, do it. Don't listen to anyone. Chase your dreams," he said to Fox 35 news.
The man is dedicated to reaching his goal and seems to be helping people along the way. Baluchi said, "My goal is to not only raise money for homeless people but also raise money for the Coast Guard, raise money for the police department, raise money for the fire department. They are in public service, they do it for safety and they help other people."
Gina Laspina, a friend that has been on Baluchi's journey for years, says he has a GPS tracking device, so his family and friends know his location at all times when he is on the water. "He's a survivalist, he can survive anywhere for days and weeks. He's got food, he's got water, he's got everything he needs to keep him safe," Laspina shared with Fox 35.
Baluchi's partner Lynn told Vice that she tried to "talk him out of it for quite a while… because obviously, it's extremely dangerous. I really didn't know if he was gonna come home alive or not."
The Coast Guard maintains that Beluchi's actions are dangerous and prohibited. So far, Baluchi has not heeded any warnings and continues to try and run the journey from Florida to Bermuda in a bizarre bubble vessel. He said, "I'll never give up my dream. They stop me four or five times but I never give up."
