Man Throws ‘Temper Tantrum’ On Flight About Baby Who Wouldn’t Stop Crying For ‘Over 40 Minutes’

It seems like almost every day, someone has a hard time when it comes to flying, whether the problem is related to seating disputes, bad service or delays. With planes, comfort is a major factor when traveling and airlines are known to take full advantage of this by charging extra for more favorable seats. For some, the extra charges are just a small price to pay for comfort, and they are willing to fork out extra for it. But for others, they just sit down and hope for the best during their flight.

Although passengers can choose the seats they desire, they can't choose who sits next to them, be it a chatty seat neighbor or young children who aren't used to flying on a plane. 

One man found himself in the latter situation when he was on board a Southwest Airlines flight in April 2023 alongside a baby who couldn't quite calm down. As the plane was stuck in a holding pattern due to bad weather, the man wound up throwing a tantrum over the baby's non-stop crying, as airline staff and other passengers attempted to calm him down to no avail.

Instead of taking the situation in stride, the man voiced his frustration by shouting and ended up giving the baby a run for their money in the process. Footage of the incident spread online and has since made the news for all the wrong reasons. In the video that was shared to TikTok, the man could be heard yelling:

"I paid for a ticket too! That child has been crying for over 40 minutes!"

Surrounded by multiple flight attendants who attempted to quell the situation, the man was clearly at the end of his tether. "Calm the child down please! I had headphones on, I was sleeping." 

After airline workers asked the man to lower his voice, he yelled: "I'm not screaming? You want me to scream?" before continuing to yell at everyone who was trying to calm the situation.

The footage came from a fellow passenger who had recorded the outburst and was visible on screen giggling at the situation. At one point when the man was told that he was yelling in the cabin, he replied, "So is the baby!" To which the flight attendant aptly replied, "You're a man!"

It's not clear how long it took the man to be subdued, or the baby to stop crying, but after the plane landed at its destination, the man was escorted away by police. The exact flight on which the incident took place wasn't revealed by the airline, but the final destination was in Florida.

The video went viral after it was posted to TikTok, where it's been viewed over 215,000 times, and naturally, people had a lot to say. Many criticized the man's actions. One person went so far as to say, "People this irrational need to be banned for life from every airline." Another said, "If a person has that big of a problem with a crying baby they should have rented a car and drove, took bus or train." Yet another wrote:

"He's complaining about to (sic) kid crying but he's a whole grown a** man having a temper tantrum 😂😂😂 okay crybaby sir! He never took care of his kids"

But others admitted they felt his frustration. One wrote, "He said the quiet part out loud 😂," while another said: 

"Is he the real baby? YES. Is he vocalizing how most feel? YES."

One user didn't comment on the man or the baby but certainly had a fair point:

"Flight attendants don't make nearly enough money 🤦🏻‍♀️"
