Man Stepped Up To Care For His Grandma Until Her Last Days & Claims She Was ‘Reborn’ As His Daughter

Most grandparents are easygoing when handling their grandchildren. They will go out of their way to keep the little ones happy. It could be the reason why most of these bonds go strong until the kids become adults.
Matthew Stewart is a young, Florida-based man who was lucky to have a bubbly and sassy grandma that he loved dearly. His love was so strong he dedicated himself to making videos of his family, which he posted on Instagram, and subsequently captured hearts around the nation.
However, after having a fall and struggling to continue with the same vivacity she'd always had, Stewart's grandma passed away in January 2022, mere months before his daughter was born in April of that same year. Since then, Stewart revealed he believes his beloved grandma was "reborn" as his adorable daughter.
Stewart and Grandma Bobbe, also called GB, seemed to enjoy one of the most loving bonds there could ever be. The duo was fun to interact with, especially through the hilarious videos they'd create together. Stewart was also fond of sharing their moments on TikTok, where he has more than 5.6 million followers.
GB was not only the classic grandma who would keep giving you fairy tales till you wanted no more; she also seemed like a highly spirited grandma who did not mind some positive yet colorful jokes. Being around her definitely seemed like an enjoyable pastime, especially because she was well taken care of.
It may appear that Stewart didn’t do much, but the truth is that he reminded us to be thankful for the relationships we have, and he restored other peoples’ faith in humanity. If you follow his videos, you will not only shed a tear but also learn a lesson or two.

One especially emotional video was posted in October 2020, and it showed Stewart announcing to his grandma that she would be moving in with him and his family when their new house was finished being built. Stewart shared the video of the moving announcement on his Instagram page. He captioned the post: “Our future home.” In the video, you could see how happy and overwhelmed GB was after hearing the news. She shed some tears and said that she was touched to know that somebody wanted her. They moved in officially in April 2021.
Following the move, Stewart shared on his Instagram:
"The most AMAZING day EVER. What an honor it was to give GB the gift of happiness and have her live with us! All the hard work I put in to be able to get our house and have this moment, and the following 9 months, was 100% worth the literal blood, sweat, and tears."
For GB, being close to her family was the greatest gift she could receive. A lot of elderly people are forced into assisted living facilities if their families are unwilling and unable to take care of them. It was so heartwarming that this did not happen to GB and that she got to enjoy the last years of her life with her beloved family.
Viewers were incredibly touched by the video. Fans praised Stewart for being an incredibly loving grandson to his dear grandmother.
Seeing your grandparents through their golden years is a blessing. If you need to perk up your relationship with them, consider cuddling them more, shopping for them and most importantly, spending quality time with them.

Apost.com readers were also struck by Stewart’s kindness, and many shared their own stories about grandchildren and grandparents.
“My 12-year-old granddaughter tells me that she will always take care of me and that I can live with her when I'm old. ❤️,” Vickie St Clair wrote on Facebook.
Sadly, Stewart’s updates began to take on a somber tone after GB fractured her humerus and pelvis in September 2021. In a video uploaded to Instagram on Oct. 1, 2021, GB said she was “fine,” “feisty” and “ready to get out” of the rehabilitation center, where she had been recovering. But in later videos, Stewart explained that GB’s health had deteriorated and that she was refusing to undergo physical therapy.
In an Instagram update on Dec. 12, 2021, Stewart explained that he took a break from social media, as it was difficult to receive messages from fans who asked whether GB was still alive.
“GB’s doing OK mentally … I’m not going to film her in the state that she’s in. I know some people probably want to see her, but I’m not going to,” Stewart said. “There’s nothing anybody can do or say — including myself — to get her going. The doctors basically said that she’s all healed up and it’s up to her. She’s still refusing to do anything.”
While holding back tears, Stewart also thanked his fans for everything they’d done for him and his grandmother.
“I will truly never be able to thank y’all for helping me give my grandmother the absolute best two years of her life,” Stewart said, adding that there won’t be any more GB videos in the future.
Sadly, Stewart's comment about no more videos of GB came true — Grandma Bobbe passed away in late January 2022.
Stewart shared the news with his followers in an Instagram post:
"When we made this I knew GB wouldn’t be with us forever, but I also didn’t think she would be gone this soon! The past two years seems to have gone by in the blink of an eye. I sure wish we could have had another 20 years! What an amazing adventure we had and how blessed I was to have had the opportunity to share it with the world."
The devoted family man urged his followers to spend precious time with those they love dearly. "Spend time with the ones you love, even if it’s just a phone call! You never know when they’ll be gone," he wrote.
In April 2022, Stewart posted about the birth of his daughter Hadley and admitted he thought she was GB reincarnated! He wrote:
"I know there are lots of different beliefs; but I feel it’s hard to deny the circle of life exists. Watching GB leave us was the toughest lose (sic) of my life. She was truly my rock, but part of me feels she knew she had to go so a part of her could be reborn."
Stewart went on to say Hadley had "filled a void that had grown in (his) heart, it rekindled a flame that had gone out." As he philosophized on the "funny way" life can bring you down and then boost you back up, the love-filled father said this about his dear old grandmother:
"I will always miss GB but I know we will see parts of her sassy, hardheaded ... attitude again in Hadley. Thank you for watching over Hadley, it’s good to see you again GB! 💜"
Just one year later in April 2023, Stewart revealed his wife had given birth to twin boys.
