Man Risks Jail And Fine To Save Dying Baby Bear That He Found While Trekking

Corey Hancock is a professional photographer who risked a significant fine and even potential jailtime to save the life of an animal. Hancock was going for a hike through the forests of Oregon when he saw a black bear cub. It was clear that the three-month-old animal wasn't moving very well.

As an animal lover, Hancock instantly assumed the worst. He thought that the bear was dead. It appeared as if the bear had been abandoned to die by his family.

In a moment of desperation, Hancock started giving the black bear CPR. After a few minutes, the bear eventually showed some signs of life. Hancock rushed the cub to Turtle Ridge Wildlife Center. The veterinarians discovered that the cub was suffering from starvation and dehydration.

Fortunately, it wasn't too late to help this cute bear cub.

The animal was given nutrients, vitamins, and plenty of water. He was eventually nursed back to health and is currently doing great. Many wildlife experts strongly disagree with Hancock's behavior. Many professionals don't think that Hancock should have touched the wild bear. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is reminding people that it is highly illegal to remove wildlife from their natural habitat.

In fact, Hancock could have been sent to prison for the incident. The official rules state that a perpetrator of this crime could serve a year in prison or be fined $6,000.

Luckily, the Oregon State Police let Hancock go with a stern warning. This story has created opposing viewpoints on the matter. While most people would agree that the act was virtuous, many critics argue that the results didn't justify Hancock's intrusion into the area's natural ecosystem.
