Man Praised For No-Nonsense Response To Plane Passenger Resting Bare Feet On Seat

Flying on planes can mean spending hours in cramped and uncomfortable quarters with people you don’t know. The situation can be made worse when strangers don’t respect your personal space and do things that are downright disgusting. A man posted a video on TikTok of a fellow passenger resting their bare feet on the armrest of his chair during a flight. The way he handled the situation has raised some questions, but others say he was totally in the right.

The video begins with the man’s face and then pans down to the foot resting on the arm of the chair. The video then shows the annoyed and confused look on the man’s face. In response to the rudeness of the person behind him placing their bare feet on his chair, the man took a water bottle and poured some water on the person’s foot. The foot then moved away quickly and the problem appeared to be solved as the video ended.

The video was posted by TikTok user @the.walker.twins on July 4, 2021, and it has been viewed over 6 million times since it hit the platform. Some people have praised the man for his actions, while others say he was being rude in return and still more people say he was not harsh enough. One person responded to the video saying they would have poured hot water instead, and another added that they would have elbowed the person’s foot to make their point. With over 650,000 likes, the caption of the video reads: "Had to do something.” However, this may have all been a joke. There is a group of people in the comments that think the video was a set-up and that the man actually knows the other passenger. The Walker twins, who own the account, did not respond to Insider’s request to answer questions. 

The video asks the question: “What would you do in this situation?” One person responded with a story of what they did when something similar happened to them. They wrote, “This happened to my daughter but the foot was beside her face. I got up and said move it now!"

The TikTok has received almost 15,000 comments from users who were worked up over the audacity of the other passenger.  A lot of commenters praised the man for taking action against the other person. One user wrote, "Right on, I'm so tired of people and their lack of respect for others." It could be the lack of personal space that makes people behave so badly on flights.

It seems as if there has been a rise in ridiculous incidents on planes since the country has begun to open up again. In a TikTok video uploaded by Janelle Elise Flom, a fellow passenger stuck gum and candy in another person’s hair after they repeatedly placed their long locks over the screen of the person sitting behind them. Flom’s video asked, “Whose side are you on?” It has been viewed more than 13 million times.
