Man Makes Homemade Popsicles For Turtles And Feeding Frenzy Is Hit On The Internet

Having a turtle as a pet is a great way for elementary-age children to learn about animals and still have fun. Turtles are cute, but not cuddly, and they are not recommended for young children as they may drop them or forget to wash their hands after handling them. Turtles are fascinating and there are many different types. 

Vet Street reported that some turtles can go on land as well as swim in the water, while others stay in water exclusively. Turtles are different from tortoises who look similar but have different feet. Turtles have webbed feet, typically, while tortoises have toes. Also, turtles are omnivores and tortoises only eat plants.

Before getting a turtle as a pet, one should consider that they can live for decades and sometimes outlive their owners. Some pet turtles are passed down through generations if they are fed the right diet and kept at the correct temperature.

One man, known online as the Fish Whisperer, makes a special snack for his pet turtles and they just can’t get enough. He uses a mix of fruit, fish and water to make popsicles for his adorable pets. When the man went outside to give the turtles their snacks, they all rushed forward to greet him. They popped out of the water and climbed on land to see the food he brought.

The video is posted online to the Fish Whisperer YouTube channel, and it has almost 50 million views. The caption of the video reads, “In this video I feed the turtles some tasty popsicles made out of shad, strawberries, blueberries and pond water. They absolutely loved them! Thanks for watching!”

The Fish Whisperer is a play on the popular phrase “dog or cat whisperer” and refers to a person who is especially good at communicating and relating to animals. The turtles’ owner wrote in his biography: “My channel consists of feeding pet fish and turtles as well as other fishing adventures.” He really does have a special way with aquatic animals.

The video also has nearly 27,000 comments. Fans of the Fish Whisperer can’t stop watching videos of his incredible, and adorable, pets. “That noise that the turtles make when they eat is so cute,” wrote one person. Whenever the animals would bite down on the popsicles there would be an adorable crunching sound coming from their tiny mouths.

Another viewer loved the way that the owner makes his videos. They said, “I love this guy, he's so genuine! Making popsicles for them and spitting out random turtle facts.” In the video, the Fish Whisperer said that the species of turtle that he owns will live to be over 40 years old.

There is so much to learn about turtles, but according to VetStreet, one important thing to know is that they are highly likely to carry salmonella. This means it is incredibly important to always wash your hands after interacting with them.
