Man Finds Famous Actress' Lost Wallet From 50 Years Ago In An Abandoned Storage Locker

Anton Lulgjuraj, a treasure hunter, started buying up old storage units in New York state. On one such occasion, he attended an auction in Putnam County, New York, in May 2017, where he bought a deserted storage locker at Life Storage in Brewster. The father of three then went through the contents of the locker to see if he could find anything of value in it.

While checking the contents of what had belonged to an Air Force pilot named David Parent, he came across an old wallet and opened it out of curiosity. Lulgjuraj dug through the wallet and found a California driver’s license from the late 1960s. The ID showed it belonged to a 20-year-old woman named Diane Hall. However, the name and face didn’t ring a bell, so he continued to peruse the wallet. He found a stack of old personal and family photos. Lulgjuraj claimed that the wallet’s contents were at least 50 years old.

Eventually, the treasure hunter pulled out an actor’s equity card that expired in 1968. The name on it was Diane Keaton. The name and the face appeared to jolt his memory, so he excitedly did some digging.

“A time capsule, you know. That’s what it was,” he told NBC News. "I’m looking through the pictures, and the pictures kind of look familiar.”

Lulgjuraj, who was a big fan of the 1972 hit movie “The Godfather,” eventually figured out that the wallet’s owner was the award-winning actress Diane Keaton, who starred in the film. Still, he didn’t want to make a mistake, so he took time to clear his doubts.

Lulgjuraj took note of a lovely black and white photo of a very young girl, believed to be Keaton, standing with a younger boy and girl who were presumably her siblings. Additionally, he reportedly found another image of Keaton’s late parents holding hands while walking on a beach.

He then tried to contact Keaton on Twitter to see if he could return her lost wallet. He explained that he didn’t want any reward and was only interested in returning what belonged to the actress. However, his quest was unsuccessful. Fortunately, Keaton saw the story when the New York Daily Mail reported it and reached out to Lulgjuraj. She thanked him for finding and trying to return her old possession and admitted it wasn’t the first time she lost her wallet.

“This is the craziest story! I don’t remeber losing this but I’m not surprised because I’ve lost my wallet many times! Thank you, Mr. Lulgjuraj!” she wrote

Lulgjuraj also responded to the Oscar winner on Twitter, as he told her he had sent the wallet through her lawyer.

“By the way I spoke with John Tishbi and I put it in the mail today United States Postal Service you should probably have it by Friday. Hopefully the mail won’t lose it for another 50 years 😁,” he quipped

Fans of the actress were happy about how everything turned out and gushed about the situation in response to her post.

“Such a charming story! And it feels so right that it involves you! Magical 💫,” a fan responded

People also applauded Lulgjuraj for his honesty.

“You’re Awesome!! Wish there were more honest people like you in this world. You’re a Gentleman and a Scholar. God Bless you and your family, Sir. Happy Holidays!!!” someone praised him.
