The family shares in the video that they were in a boat when they realized there were bears in the water. The mother bear was swimming through the river to transport her children to the other side. The family rode up towards the bear and watched as they passed by.

The task of keeping her body and head afloat while carrying her babies was a challenging task for the mother, yet she did not stop trying. She powered through the task and eventually reached the other side of the river. The bears quickly climbed off her back and ran off into the forest.

Nelda Powers, a member of the family who witnessed this event, posted the footage to her Facebook page and YouTube channel where the video quickly gained views. According to CBS, the family has the opportunity of seeing this event while they were out on a two-week finishing trip. Both Nelda and her partner, Dan, are from Crown Point, Indiana. They were with a fisherman when they witnessed this once-in-a-lifetime event.

The group was astonished by the sight before them and were not sure what to do with the footage initially. After some discussion, they decided to share it online and are clearly happy that they chose to do so.

The video is heartwarming and truly shows the extent of a mother's love. Even as a bear, she is willing to do everything she can to care for her children, and in the video, it is evident that she is exhausted from transporting her children across the river.

Nelda's family followed the bears until they reached the shoreline to make sure that they did not run into any trouble. They were ready to take any action if needed.

Bear cubs are typically ready to venture into the water only a few months after their birth. In fact, these bears love swimming, however, the mother knew that her children could not endure the long distance. While cubs are exceptionally great at swimming, they cannot handle long distances until they are much older.

The average adult bear can swim nearly 200 miles without stopping, however with her children on her back, the mother was weighed down a bit.

By carrying her children on her back, she is also keeping her cubs safe from potential predators. Creatures of the water such as crocodiles and snakes often prey on young bear cubs as they frolic through the waters.

Without their mother to protect them, they are at great risk of being captured by a predator. Thankfully, the mother thought of all scenarios when she chose to carry her children on her back.
