Celebrities always work with the best stylists and makeup artists, and that’s why most people find it difficult to see any blemish in their overall look. All these singers, actors, entrepreneurs, athletes, producers and so forth have been perpetuated by the media as flawless humans for a long time; it’s no wonder nearly everyone strives to look like them. However, as time goes by, that misconception is slowly dying out; people are beginning to see them as ordinary people.
There’s no question that many of the celebrities people envy are very gorgeous; however, there are those we consider so because it’s what they allow us to see most of the time. Nonetheless, it’s important to remember that true beauty is more than what we see. Celebrities can be very beautiful without all the makeup, styling and perfect lighting. One celebrity who proves this is Christina Applegate, who has taken to posting make-up free or low make-up photos of herself on her Instagram.
The good news is that more and more celebs are adopting and spreading this idea; many of them are posting true images of themselves on social media — without all the smoke, mirrors and cosmetics. Their fans are seeing them for who they really are, in a more private light, and appreciate them more.
One of the celebrities who has really stood out in support of this development is 49-year-old actress Christina Applegate. This celebrity has been in the spotlight for decades now, with most people first getting to know her when she was playing Kelly Bundy on the show “Married… with Children.”
After being featured in many other films and TV shows, Applegate became envied for her beauty. At 49, she is a different person. If you’ve been wondering how she looks away from the camera’s glare, and what she’s been up to recently, here’s what you need to know.

Destined For Fame
Applegate was born on Nov. 25, 1971, in Hollywood. At that time, Robert Applegate, her father, was a record company executive and a record producer. Nancy Priddy, her mother, was an actress and singer.
Being born in Hollywood and having such parents would make it very difficult for anyone to avoid becoming part of the showbiz industry. Obviously, Applegate was already destined for fame even before she was born. It wasn’t hard to imagine where she would be during the next two decades.
Applegate began forging her career in film not long after she was born. In 1972, just one year after her birth, Applegate made her television debut alongside her mom in a soap opera titled “Days of Our Lives.” Later, she starred in a Playtex baby bottles commercial. At that point, many people had started to notice her face and prowess.

In 1983, she entered the television scene as a young Grace Kelly in the TV movie “Grace Kelly.” However, her career was just starting.
At 16, Applegate landed her breakthrough role as Kelly Bundy on the popular '80 and '90s sitcom “Married… with Children.” That was truly a big deal for someone her age, and she utilized the opportunity well. As she impressed her fans with her fine acting skills, she gained a lot of exposure, and the role lasted a whole decade.
Unsurprisingly, within those 10 years, Applegate was involved in other shows and films that further boosted her charisma, and in no time, she had endeared herself to the public. In 1993, she hosted “Saturday Night Live” before taking up roles in the movies “Mars Attacks!” and “Nowhere” in 1996 and 1997, respectively.

She was part of the group that auditioned for the role of Rose; however, Kate Winslet ended up getting the role in James Cameron’s masterpiece. Although that loss was significant enough to end up in the history books, it wasn’t enough to discourage young Applegate. She had become more than a mainstay in the TV and film world, and more and more filmmakers were getting interested in her.
Among the flicks that further boosted her fame are “Just Visiting” and “Prince Charming,” both of which were completed in 2001, and “Surviving Christmas,” in which she starred alongside Ben Affleck in 2004.
Throughout her acting career, Applegate has shown a lot of growth and potential, and her fan base has grown larger after every film. Of course, she has already received special recognition for executing the character of Veronica Corningstone flawlessly in the comedy film "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy" and "Anchorman 2." Applegate shows no signs of leaving her acting career behind anytime soon. Today, her fans continue to watch her in the popular Netflix series “Dead to Me” that has been airing since 2019.
Applegate’s Personal Life
It’s very clear that Applegate has had some very good moments throughout her acting career. Having successfully featured in countless films and television shows alongside some of the best in the industry, it’s safe to say that her experience in front of the cameras is something many people inside and outside the film industry envy. The same may not necessarily be said about her personal life, though. Applegate has had a very busy work schedule since she started acting. She’s also had a lot of personal issues to deal with — some that are significant enough to destabilize anyone’s career.
Applegate fell in love with Jonathon Schaech, an actor, and married him on Oct. 20, 2001, in Palm Springs, Calif. After four years, in 2005, Schaech filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable” differences. The divorce successfully went through two years later.
In 2009, Applegate started dating a Dutch musician named Martyn LeNoble, and the couple got married in 2013. LeNoble and Applegate welcomed a beautiful baby girl named Sadie Grace in January 2011.
A Cancer Survivor
Although many Applegate’s fans don’t really know about her health history, particularly her battle with cancer, the actress did suffer and heal from breast cancer. She was diagnosed with the condition in 2008, and at the time, her representative was quoted as saying, “Christina Applegate was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. Benefiting from early detection through a doctor-ordered MRI, the cancer is not life-threatening. Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery.”
Lucky for her, the disease did not progress or affect her career as much as one would have thought. In August of 2008, health professionals performed a double mastectomy and later confirmed that the star was cancer-free.
How Is Applegate These Days?
Applegate has been amazingly successful at maintaining her beauty and elegance throughout the years. If you looked at her today, you’d see a woman who is as classy as any thriving celebrity can be. It seems the challenges she’s been through over the years haven’t been enough to take away the glitz and glam, and many people still admire her.
Even so, this woman has done things a little differently. There are many pictures of Applegate that you can see on Instagram that display her in the most natural way. In these pictures, Applegate is seen stripping away the fancy dresses and the expensive makeup to embrace her natural beauty. Based on the comments, you can tell that such pictures have inspired many people to do the same. More and more people started following her as she presented more of her true self.
Applegate appears to be the kind of person who prefers wearing makeup based on how she feels. She can surprise you with very light or heavy makeup, but she always looks confident and comfortable in her own skin. Although we’ve seen different versions of her, it’s always great to see the photos in which she has no makeup on at all. That is important, considering the fact that we’re living in an age where people are so keen to add a filter to everything they present to the world. Clearly, with this gesture, Applegate has proven to the world that she is not only a focused and hardworking entertainment professional but a true beauty as well.
Celebrities have the power to influence people, and it’s always their decision to make regarding how to do it. We’ve seen celebrities starting campaigns aimed at improving the thinking and general lives of their fans. Applegate hasn’t exactly started a campaign yet, but she displays a level of positive influence in her actions. There are many people with insecurities relating to their looks, and they lead their lives fearing that they are not good enough. Applegate has managed to prove that everyone is unique and beautiful, and we should not be afraid to show it. More and more celebrities should do the same to save as many people as possible from body image insecurities.
